Needless to say, I'm excited. |
I'm definitely exited about this game! If they keep all the awesome gameplay and storytelling, but fix the errors like :
long distances between missions graphics etc.. Russians in liberty city. ooh! this will be a great game. (waiting for the pc version of course)... one thing i can't see in the preview/screenshots is the time era. last games were in the 90s, 80s etc... when is this ? it seems like late 90s to early 2000s. |

Wow. Finally got my internet back (can you believe that it stopped working the day that the trailer came out?). I'm extremely impressed, and can honestly say I can't wait for this game.
Liberty City is cool. I think they edited the layout and general shape of it, or at least expanded it quite a bit. At this point, it's impossible to tell though. Also, looks like they've re-done Times Square, which is awesome, and the MetLife building, as well as the Statue of Liberty. Apparently there is a possibility that they will release it for Wii. I seriously hope they do. If not, I hope the PS3 prices will drop in time for MGS3 and GTAIV. |
That will NOT run in the Wii. Period.
This game looks amazing. I've played and completed GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas and I'm ready for more. Main character looks badass and those graphics are truly next-gen. They'll have to slaughter it to make it run on the Wii. :( |
WOW that looks AMAZING!!!!!!! And yeah, there's no way that will run on Wii without dropping textures and view distance dramatically......
That was just awesome. Great music and feel to the trailer. I can't wait. |
Hope they dont take too long to put this on the pc But when they do it should be fun. I hope they stay away from the flying missions this time. And real far away from the RC flying missions. I really liked the way san andraes was spread out but i do think they need more of the main missions in each area and more reasons to stick around that spot to do all the side missions. But it was nice being able to leave the city and just go offroading or get on the highways for a long drive.
I would really like to see vehicles that dont disapear. Maybe just legaly owned ones. Like if you buy one from a dealer and modify it all you want it wont disapear on you if you take it to a mission and need to drive some other car for a while and leave it there. Always bugged me that i had nice cars that would disapear if i tried to use them on missions. |

I've come to accept the fact that it won't come out for Wii, and even if it did, I don't think I'd want to play a port that would reduce everything that makes this game beautiful. I better start getting some serious income now for a PS3, because even though I'm interested in 2 games for it, they're the 2 games that I want the most right now (MGS4, GTA IV). |
I just hope they have multiplayer that doesn't require some kind of hack. And I enjoyed the flying missions, they're easy to control with the PS2 controller (which is how they're meant to be controlled). They're difficult, but not impossible, which is how every game should be.

Liberty City o.O?
Wow, is this a new vice city game? or is it that one from the psp that they put on to the ps2? |

I'm pretty excited about GTA 4. It will be nice to combine the GTA experience with much fancier graphics.
I don't know if I'd want to play a GTA game on the Wii. Would I have to pump the controller up and down to beat people senseless and steal their money? |

I'm honestly surprised to see this being said. I thought Liberty City would have at least been known from GTA3, and 50/50 known from GTA1. I mean GTA1 started it all, and had all 3 cities within. Liberty City, SA, and VC. Heck I still have my maps from the PC edition of GTA 1. |
Some new info on the game:
http://planetgrandtheftauto.gamespy.....php?id=118912 # Niko Bellic is the main character. # Multi-player will be included, but no details yet. # Liberty City is the only location in the game. # The Xbox 360 version was the version shown to the magazine editors. # There were no planes in the skies of the demo that the magazine editors saw, and it seems that there will not be airplanes in the game. Other forms of air travel should not be ruled out. # The MetLife building now bears the name Getalife, the Statue of Liberty is now the Statue of Happiness, and DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) is called BOABO (Beneath the Offramp of the Algonquin Bridge Overpass). # Dan Houser of Rockstar Games said that New York City "is an environment we felt had never been done to the level we were envisioning it in a video game. From looking at all of the locations, this was the one that really stood out to us, and really had that impact. It has all of these iconic things that you couldn't put into a game before." # Within Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar North has recreated four of the five boroughs that make up New York City, as well as a section of New Jersey. In the GTA universe, Brooklyn has been transformed to Broker, Manhattan has mutated into Algonquin, Queens is now Dukes, The Bronx is Bohan, and New Jersey has become Alderney. # It's a smaller geographical mass than San Andreas, but not an inch of this world is wasted or dedicated to vast stretches of country or desert. It's a tightly packed metropolis that captures the eye with its decades of world-class architecture, sun-blocking towers, and extraordinary walks of life. # The city is brought to life with an amazing level of realism. Sunlight glistens beautifully off of glasswork, illuminates the intricate detailing of century old brick, and even reveals just how realistic an ordinary bag of trash can look. As the sun begins to set, the city takes on a whole different appearance. Buildings that were once eye-popping attractions slowly become ominous obelisks. As any New Yorker will tell you, there's a big difference between New York during the day and New York at night. Liberty City will perfectly capture that quality. # Niko Bellic's home is in Eastern Europe, and he likely may never have traveled to Liberty City if it wasn't for his cousin Roman. With life not working out in the homeland, "Bellic turns up in Liberty City because he's been receiving e-mails from his cousin Roman, that read like: 'I live this amazing life, it's the American Dream come true. I have two women. I have four hot tubs. I have fifteen sports cars," Houser elaborates. "And [Bellic] believes it." His bid to flee his past for what he thought would be the greener pastures of America couldn't be any further from the truth. Roman has been lying to him. He isn't rich. He isn't popular. And he's actually in a load of trouble. He lied to his cousin to hide his own failures in life. # Roman, Niko's cousin, is the only person that he knows in America. He serves as one of his main friends, motivations, and connections at the start of the game. Unlike San Andreas, players won't get a chance to see Bellic in his homeland. You will see his life unfold from the moment he steps into Liberty City. # Niko is a "tough character" while Roman is a "friendly buffoon." |
nice! thanks for the info man!

I also can't wait for this game.
I'm no console fan, but if they don't announce a PC version before or around launch, I'm getting myself a PS3! I really expect this game to be awesome. I've yet to see a true in-game screenshot though.... |

So I can either choose to buy a $600 console system or $2000 new PC. Besides the price difference each option has their (dis)advantages, but the consoles have the advantage of a +/- 6 month advance on the GTA title ;-) Seriously, I would really like a new PC and GTA is just the right reason (for me, my SO might think otherwise). Me considering a console (I've never really liked consoles) is more of a tribute to GTA than anything else... |
The really strange thing is this: I am of course familiar with Liberty City from GTA3, but I never before realized that it was supposed to be some sort of analogue for New York. So I was watching the trailer just now and I thought to myself, "what the hell, this isn't Liberty City, this is New York! Look, the Statue of Liberty! The Brooklyn Bridge! Times Square!"
I don't remember seeing stand-ins for any of those things in GTA3. Am I missing something? |

Things like new buildings and monuments are now there. Now there was something similar to Times Square in GTA3, if I remember correctly, but I'm not too sure anymore. And now there's a New Jersey-ish area as well. |
