I haven't played it myself but I've heard now that the patches are out its a pretty decent game.

Don't bother. I played EQ (on Vallon Zek, a "team pvp" server) for several years and a lot of old VZ'ers quit for Shadowbane and now dislike it.

I left EQ to play SB also. I still play and enjoy it. they need to do a lot of work to it still but other than the lag and lack of pve content it is a fun game. The PvP is better than anything else out right now.
I am beta testing for Star Wars Galaxies and I can tell you it will combine SB/EQ/UO all in one if they stick to their current plan. SWG has the potential to become the new leader in MMORPG's once it is released. |

well leveling isn't the point of the game...hence why you were bored. Leveling is just something you do so you can farm enough gold for your city and for pvp.
If you don't think 50 on 50 battles are fun then SB is not the game for you. If you want to level and be ubbr, L33T!, and strive to be in the best armor plats and real money can buy, I suggest waiting for EQ2. In SB I am never bored. There is always something to do, but then I belong to one of the larger nations that are at war with another 2 large nations. I always have pvp or gold farming to do. |

Youre right, but theres not 50 vs. 50 battles 24/7. They occur during a small window of the 24 hour clock. Usually at that time servers are hard to log into anyways, but thats not the point. If you are hardcore there is NOTHING To do during the day, or late night. Spending hours running aornd to track down some R3 from a rival guild who was farming and kill him is a pointless waste of time, and farming is boring as hell. Group vs. Group battles are great though but that doesnt happen as much anymore. Segies are the same t hing every day. All cities are the same so do I care if my allies cities gets burnt? Why should I defend it?? It'll just fall the next day, or the next, seems pointless. Oh but I get to kill people, well with the lag I hardly know who I get the killshot on, and even if I did the fighting turns into a slide-show so I just mash buttons. You cant even tell how many people youve killed (no realm points or anything) and they never carry anything lootable so killing peopel is so pointless. I'll go kill people in a FPS. That said I still play the game, I guess I'm bitter cause I suck at it I've killed 5 people and died at least 80 times no joke ! And I grab a group of people and try to find people to kill whenever I'm on. |

I quit DAoC to play ShadowBane and quit after the first month as well. I only have limited time to play and the login servers wouldn't let me login for days at a time. Sure they gave me credit for the time I lost but it is quite aggravating. The massive battles that do happen end up kicking me out (and many others) with SB.EXE errors to latency and Packet Loss issues. I have a 2.5 MB network link so I am fairly certain it is not me.
I would not recommend this game at all. |

Well, other than the lag, which I think this last patch fixed, I love it. I am on Deception server and we have been at war more than we have not.
I think the game has a lot of good things about it but still needs a bit more pve content to keep the EQers interested. |

Daoc is my personnal favorite. Ive done EQ for 5 years Daoc for about 1 1/2 years. Also tried Anarchy online, asherons call, and Shadowbane.
in order: 1. Daoc. Just all around a great game that you dont always have to dedicate a 3 hour time frame to. Great mix of PVE and PVP 2. EQ. Just so much to do but hard to accomplish much if you cant devote some large chunks of time to it. 3. Anarchy online. Didnt play it for too long. I tried it when it first came out and at that time it was so buggy you could barely play it. When you could though seemed like a great game, and I hear now that has all been fixed. 4. Asherons call. Just seemed to easy to me. Having a level 27 character killing level 40 critters. 5. Shadowbane. fun at first, then you find yourself with little to do besides trying to find some PVP action. |
