We (former Vallon-Zekites) recently discovered an EQemu server (a server which uses the EQ client but has a different unofficial server platform) which is pretty well developed and a fresh breath of air in what is otherwise a pretty worn out game.

The world has some similar / familiar areas but they've all been renamed, and retooled for a new world and essentially a different version entirely of EQ. Those familiar with old FPS mods would call it a "Total Conversion" as it is using a version of EQ but has completely turned it into a different, fun, world. The XP curve has been eased considerably as well.

To get started, be sure to read through the site / starting guide / wiki at the links above. A link to the EQ patcher is below -- download that, extract the EverQuest.exe into whatever folder you want the game downloaded into, then patch up (use the "Advanced" button on the actual patcher to select all expansions up to and including Lost Dungeons of Norrath.)

I may check it out... I dabbled a bit in the UO emulator and EQ emu scene years ago (like, at least four or five years ago), but the EQ emu was extremely underdeveloped back then.

As a former VZer, I'm curious to see if this still has its legs. Have you guys moved onto VG Sere? Or are you still pounding out EQ old school style?
