XBox Advanced A/V cables

I have a fairly nice surround sound speaker setup in my room and I'd like to be able to hook up my XBox to it.

I think I need the Advanced AV cables for the XBox, but I'm not entirely sure. If I do, is there anything else I'd need? My options for plugging in to my surround sound controller are Digital Coax or Digital Optical.

Quote:
* Source Inputs
o Digital optical for DVD or CD players, PlayStation®2, Xbox®**
o Digital coaxial for DVD or CD players or PC sound cards (requires coaxial cable, sold separately)
o 6 channel direct (3 stereo-mini connectors) for 2, 4, or 6 channel PC sound cards OR
o 6 channel direct (3 stereo-mini connectors) for 3 stereo analog mini audio sources, like CD and DVD players, Playstation 2, Xbox, or 2 channel PC sound cards (some devices may require stereo mini to dual RCA adapter, sold separately)
o Analog stereo-mini (on side panel of control center) for portable CD, MP3,or MiniDisc® players

**Requires Xbox® Advanced AV Pack or Xbox® High Definition AV Pack, sold separately, or PC sound cards (requires optical cable, sold separately)
That's from the speaker manual. I'm assuming I need to buy the Advanced AV Pack with an optical cable. If anyone's set this up, can you help me out?

I don't have a TV that supports the s-video input, will I still be able to use the regular TV inputs with my XBox while using the optical digital input?

You're going to have to convert that S-video to composite video.

here's a simple female/female plug to convert it. http://www.cablestogo.com/product.as...=102&sku=13043

I don't know how good it works and it'll probably hurt the video quality some but that's the best I can come up with.

Also, Optical audio cables probably don't come with the advanced xbox cables so make sure you check before you leave the store..

I have a cable for Xbox that has both Component video cables, as well as the standard (yellow for video, red & white for audio). The cable as an extra slot near the end for plugging in an optical audio cable. I got it from a friend after he sold his Xbox, so I don't know where it came from.

I am actually giving this to a friend since I have a 360 now, but I kept the optical audio cable, because it works with the 360's hook up too.

I have the Advanced AV-Pack (not the HD pack) and you can use your regular composite (yellow) cable with it without using the S-Video input.

BUT if your TV does have an S-Video input, use that, the video quality takes a HUGE jump up from composite.
