Classic Sierra Games for PC HELP ME!!!!!
Everyone remembers the Gabriel Knight games, the Kings Quest, and Police Quest games. Fun games that played like an mixture between puzzle, RPG, and action. I can find these games, even own a couple of these games, but they are so old that they have become incompatable with my computer; especially Gabe 1 (which is by far my favorite PC game of all time). What I'm wondering is if anyone knows where I can find free, downloadable versions of these games on the net because I don't want to have to re-pay for games I already own but are too outdated for my computer. I am desperate to find these because they are a piece of my childhood I am not ready to let go of yet. So if you know, please give me some answers. Thanks!

Download DOSBox. It's a MS-DOS emulator and works with most old games.

thanks but I'm fairly computer illiterate... And I don't just need an emulator, I need the games too? I'm sorry if I'm fairly hard-headed when it comes to this subject but I'm not sure exactly what to do. If someone could lead me through it I would be very grateful
The games I want are the mid-90's Sierra games like the latter Kings Quest Games, the Gabriel Knight Series, the latter of the Police Quest Series, the Gobliin series, and of course Leisure Suit Larry; but only towards the end of the series. Where can I find these, can someone lead me through the downloading and installing. I have a simple Dell Desktop with Windows. I need detailed instuction because I know shit all about computers. Thanks in advance... and I'm sorry I wasn't informative enough. I would really, really appriciate this. Feel free to PM me. Thanks. |
Don't forget Space Quest!
|
Go to www.abandonia.com for old games. Unfortunately most of Sierra's games are ESA protected, so you can't download them from Abandonia or anywhere else for that matter. You may be able to find them by digging around the internet though.
Abandonia has tons of old games though, and they have instructions on how to use all of the different progs you may need to get them working. I don't know of any sites to d/l Sierra games, but hopefully you might find something you like at Abandonia. |
The question now is, how do I use Dosbox?
|
i saw on walmart's website (this could be a fluff though) that they had a upcoming release for the collections for space quest, police quest and king's quest.
i'm glad i have all the king's quest and leisure suit larry but i really would love to have my hands on space quest and police quest! dosbox is very simple to use if you get D-Fend to go with it. D-Fend is kinda like a uhm.. well.. it makes dosbox easier to use :) |
Check out www.abandonwarering.com for more classic gaming goodies.

Abandonia has a step by step tutorial for Dosbox.....
|
Don't forget Quest for Glory either!

Carno! Thanks for the tip on the tutorial... exactly what I needed. But now I need to find Gabe Knight or this was all for nothing (thats a little dramatic; I have police quest, space quest, and kings quest all on my comp now :))

Okay, I don't know if you have bittorrent, but it was the only source I could find for Gabe Knight.
Gabe Knight 1 Gabe Knight 3 Sierra is a real bitch about their licenses, so it's extremely hard to find their old games. EDIT: here's another torrent site that has the games: Gabe Knight |
New Question. Say I have the game's software (cd blah blah blah). How do I use Dosbox to install and play them?

http://www.the-underdogs.org/ has pretty much almost any semi-underrated [aka: underdog] game from the mid-90's and earlier. Plus, a bunch of fan remakes and lesser known freeware.
Be warned, it will suck away a lot of time ! regards, will. |
best siet for old sierra and lucas arts games is http://www.agamesroom.com/
just drag the exe on dosbox and itll run u may need vdmsound for other oldies |
http://www.agdinteractive.com/
Even if you have the original two Kings Quest, this site has new "spiffier" versions of the first two, with better graphics and new puzzles, but the same basic storyline. I played them both and had a good time. |
Thanks for that AGDI site! King's Quest I and II - wow!
|
Don't forget Starseige!!!!
I empthaize on that obviously :D |
leisure suit larry, police quest, space quest and kings quest compilations that will be fully compatible with xp are being release on march 24.

Gabriel Knight 2 was my favorite of that series, mostly because I had a crush on Gabriel's assistant. Hmmm. I can never remember her name.
Home of the Underdogs is another good place to find old games. Gilda |

I can't keep track of anything in my life, including bills that are due tomorrow . . . For some reason, however, I know precisely where my ancient Daggerfall CD is. Ridiculous. |
I knew about underdogs, but the rest of these sites have stolen my gaming soul.
Thank you guys, though my girlfriend will not, for leading me back to when men were men, games were games, and I had the social life of a three toed sloth. |
Quest for Glory and.......one of the first MMORPGs to ever surface........
THE REALM!!!!!!!!!! |
