Have you tried checking the Xbox to see what version it's running in with your new cables? The Xbox can run in several video modes, perhaps the mode it runs in by default with your cables isn't supported by your television.
You should be able to see the modes from your desktop in the Xbox. Edit: I'm not sure but I think the higher settings like HDTV 480p only show up in the settings menu when you have your cables hooked into the Xbox.

Are you talking about the Xbox-1 or the 360? The Xbox-1 supports maximum 480p video, try fooling around with your TV settings to see if it supports 480p (which it should, especially if its HD...)
The 360 supports 720p natively and can go up to 1080i I believe.

im talking about the original xbox.
I didnt realize the resoloutions, I dont really know anything about the xbox or my tv. The manuel that came w/ my tv is mainly about the remote, but it says HDTV on the front of it. It is a philips 46" HDTV I tried connecting the components into the standard hookups and it came out black and white. the sound works w/ the components, jus the image is not there, although you can see lines fuzzying across the screen RGB UPDATE: I turned it on w/ a game in there (NHL2006) and it started out the same, but then once the game loaded it played fine. so i guess it is just the title screen that doesnt work. ?? That's odd. I wouldn't think your game would work if main screen doesn't...
Either glad that it's working properly now. Still for future reference it might be good to look up your TV settings and see if it supports 480p like Wingless mentioned.

THUG supports to running in both 720p and 480p. The game does not support 1080i.
#1 Ensure you are using component cables to connect your XBox to your television. #2 Connect the XBox directly to the television instead of through a receiver or switch. Remember when you enable the 720p option in the XBox and a game that supports 720p, the XBox will output 720p whether or not the TV supports it. So the fix is to turn everything on EXCEPT 720p. However, since you said you tried everything and your TV supports all the settings my only suggestion would be to give all the options a once over again just to be safe(check your TV and Xbox settings). If that doesn't work and this is the only game that gives you HD problems it sounds like you might have a bad disc. Take it back to the store if you can.

if a tv has HD on it, it supports up to 1080i.
make sure you check the inputs and without a doubt there is a setting on the xbox to change. if it is made to play on xbox (not 360), there should not be any problem whatsoever like is being described. |
