GUN
I can't believe I couldn't find anything about this game on here.
I bought it used last night for $25, and it's worth twice that, easily. I also bought Red Dead Revolver (again, used, $15) because I'd heard nothing but good things about it, and played it first for about an hour and a half. Then I wanted to check out GUN. After about 20 minutes of playing I thought about taking Red Dead Revolver back, not because it's a bad game, but because I'm not going to play it much until I'm done with this one. If you don't know, GUN is also an old west style game, but I like the controls and weapons much better. It's also a bit more graphic/gory, for instance if your enemy if hurt or dying you can SCALP THEM! That is too cool! You can do Pony Express missions, catch people on Wanted Posters (dead or alive), play poker (though I haven't got to do that yet)... there's just plenty to do to keep you busy outside of the story missions, which is great because I'd hate to give this a good review and then beat it in two days. I don't think that's going to happen though because of all the extra stuff. Anyone else playing? If not, I can't recommend this game enough, especially if you can find it used and relatively cheap. |

the only problems I had with it are that it is way too short, and the visuals on the pc were substandard, which I believe is mostly due to it being a direct console port. Other than that, the story was excellent, voice acting top notch, good action, and varied quests. I'd say its a very good start, and I hope they make a sequel or two and improve on the core gameplay.

Sounds like it's worthwhile, especially at a bargain bin. I really enjoyed that XBox Western about a 1-1.5 years back, "Red Dead" or some nonsense. It got pretty shady reviews and hit the bargain bin quickly, but I thought it had its moments.
I'll be checking this one out of your recommendation. Nik - how short is "way too short?" In terms of hours . . .

I would bet if you didn't do any of the side missions you could finish the actual game within three hours...
It's pretty short. Don't get me wrong, it's fun, if a bit repetative... but waaay too short.

Ouch! I haven't messed with it at all today, and last night I was playing at a friend's house so I'll have to start from the beginning anyway, but that's incredibly short! We must've been close to beating it last night in that case.
That really sucks! Maybe I'll be playing Red Dead Revolver sooner than I thought... |

Ya, I'd keep Red Dead Revolver, I've never played it, but in a couple good sittings you could finish GUN easily, with all the side missions, in about 6 hours. Awesome game tho, I wish it was longer.

The game is fun but on normal level quite easy, although I am stuck trying to beat Magruder right now. I wondered why I have only played the game a couple of nights and it says that I am 65% done.
