I was fired when the place I worked sucuumbed to the early 90's recession. The man who fired me then went on to make possibly the poorest career choices ever, and went from a large market radio manager to a small town AM radio "swap shop" host.

Sorry for the shaudenfreude.

Have you ever had a case of shaudenfreude?

Shaudenfreude? What's that? (consults Wikipedia, finds nothing)

Pick any two: Chocolate, Strawberries, Whipped cream.

My Shaudenfreude story:

One day, I was driving the speed limit down a parkside road where speed traps are common. The light ahead of me turned yellow and if had I been driving faster, (the norm) I could have made it through, and the car behind me could have (illegally) justified pushing his way through too. Not wanting to speed, I braked and stopped.

I can't remember how I knew, but I could tell the guy behind me was pissed at my inconsiderate display of following the rules. As soon as the light turned green, he screeched out from behind me (remember, this is on a street next to a park) and tore around me through the intersection. Not 50' farther down the road, a cop stepped into the middle of his lane and put her hand out like Moses parting the Red Sea. He screeched to a halt in front of her and probably got a huge ticket. I giddily drove by at a modest speed, laughing all the way.

777: Strawberries and Whipped cream for sure.

Do you regularily attend live sporting events? Which ones? I'm going to try and get back into baseball this year.

Yes, I try and attend WHL hockey games as much as possible. My buddy also dragged me out to one of his kids soccer games.

I'm like "Fuck that shit, I'm not going to watch some little kids play indoor soccer. Let's go drinking."

"Dude, there is a Bar at the soccer centre."

"Really? Let's go..."

He proceeded to get me liquored up, and we turned into cheerleaders. His kids call me "Funny Uncle Ben", and all of the parents started to get into it. I could care less, I had no shame. It was great. I haven't been invited back, though...

What about TP? Do you check that? I may... just to see if I've done a good enough job. Mommy told me to when I was little and it stuck. (poor choice of words...)

Do you ever feel like bursting into song in the middle of a public place just to see peoples' reaction?

Normally I hate attention, and being looked at so no, not intentionally... though before my IPod broke, I had been known to unintentionally break into dance if specific songs game on... (there was this episode in the laundry room of my last place of residence where I danced about the laundry room singing as well (rather loudly and very off key) to Led Zeppelin's Fool in the Rain.. (I did get applause from my audience when I finished but I have never been so embarassed in life... )

Do you like attention? Why or why not? i personally hate it and would much rather blend into the woodwork and not be noticed... other than for work... but I will still never take sole credit for anything...

I met my best friend (and wife) at a Ren Fair. We were introduced by a mutual friend. I was supposed to be helping a desired girlfriend move. She never called me, and was PISSED when she found out that I had started dating my wife.

Her loss.

What is your favorite movie...and why?

The Big Lebowski, because it is a metaphor about life. The closest thing I have ever seen, anyway.

How do you order snacks at a theatre? I get a little extra butter in the middle of my popcorn, and ask for "Not Much Ice" in my drink.

No candy for me, thanks.

I ask for a little butter too! No ice in the drink at all, and I usually don't get candy cause I'm not really into sweets. (Wanna go to the movies together??)

When was the last time you made a bad decision? I made one last night. *sigh*

All I have to do is look at the time lately, and realize that in the previous 10 minutes, I probably made a bad decision... Bad decisions this week have resulted in a cast, a black eye, inhalation of extra strength rolaids right now (baked beans as a side order with lunch was a really really bad idea). I am the queen of bad decisions these days...

Did you do your taxes yet? I finally got mine done this morning... they are in an envelope ready to go to the post office.. (which will probably take me another week to send them certified mail)

Do you own your home? We rent...when we do buy, it'll be our first "real" home!

We own our home--with a mortgage, of course, but we could pay it off if we wanted.

Do you plant a garden for vegetables? I have never done that as an adult--my parents and grandparents did, but it's not for me.

Considering I live on the 28th floor, a garden is out of the question. My grandparents have a garden and I used to garden before I moved to the city, but I wasn't good at it because my plants always died.

What is your favorite snack? I go through phases, but right now I'm hooked on dipping snacks...fritos and cheese dip or celery and peanut butter...depends on if I'm feeling like junk food or healthy food.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? I know they don't chuck wood, but if they did, I'd guess maybe small mulchy bits.

My answer to the woodchuck question: I need more information before making that determination. How old is this woodchuck? How good are his teeth? What kind of wood are we talking about? Is he well rested from his last chucking? Is he being paid by the job or by the hour?

So you see, I can't give you an answer without more data.

I don't want an entire list, I just want one disc that you'd make sure you took onto that proverbial desert island (you know, the one with the great sound system and electrical outlets). Me, I think I'd toss in WAITING FOR COLUMBUS by Little Feat every time.

Oh, and if a woodchuck could chuck wood, a woodchuck would chuck lots of wood. At lease one cord. (chord? )

How often do you buy cut flowers? My wife loves them, so I don't wait for special occasions - maybe once a month.

What do you do for fun? best answer i can come up with is i read, watch movies and cook occassionally - i am not much fun at all really...

Well, since PoppinJay got skipped, I'll answer both questions. I used to go to the Moose lodge because my parents were members, but I'm not a fan of organized groups like that, they make me think of clans for some reason, so I think they will eventually die out, but who knows, there may be generations to keep them going.

For fun, I do whatever I'm in the mood for...sometimes it's video games, sometimes watching a movie, sometimes exercising, sometimes just walking to different places around the city. My favorite fun thing is shopping, but since we are broke I can't do that anymore.

Where is your favorite place? I have a few favorite places, but the one that I can go to whenever I want is Washington Square Park. It's a little pocket park a couple blocks away and in the summer it's a haven. It's quiet, which is surprising being so close to the city. We take a picnic and books and spend the day laying on a blanket relaxing. If the homeless people ignore you, it's a very peaceful place. We also get to feed the squirrels which will eat out of your hand.

What has been the happiest day of your life so far? Mine was probably when I first asked out one of my girlfriends. I surfed for about four hours that same day because the waves were really good, and then we went on a date that night and I asked her out. Surfing always puts me in a good mood, and the rest of the day was just really awesome too. Then the bitch cheated on me a couple months later.

Ok, well I'll say that recently it has been the first day I moved in to my new house!!! So yeah that's pretty great.

What do you feel most like doing now that spring has started and the weather is warmer?

It's raining cats and dogs and it's cold, my socks are wet, my underwear is wet... my hair is a damp, limp mass of frizz... I'm hoping these april showers bring may flowers... soon...

Since it's easter time... do you like Peeps? I'm a fan of the yellow peeps (none of this pink, purple or blue peep crap, gotta go with the classic) a little bit stale, placed lovingly on a graham cracker, and put into the toaster oven for one toasting cycle... you can almost hear the peep scream as he gets all marshmallow melty on the cracker... when he's done toasting and the sugar outside the peep has gotten all browned.. put another graham cracker on top and squish -and you have peep sammich... (add chocolate if you lke a peep s'more..

I have taken the Pepsi Challenge and picked Coke. I can tell the difference and much prefer Coca-Cola. I don't mind RC now and then.

Your host offers you a drink from his fully stocked bar of fruit juices. Which one do you select? I'd opt for orange juice most of the time, except at night when I switch to grape juice.
