I had think about that one. I know I ate at KFC about 2 months ago. I am pretty sure I had fried chicken.

My favorite part about spring is being outside in the sun, listening to the birds, and smelling the fresh air. What do you like best about the Spring season?

I fear the water, unless flying high, high above it or drinking it. Can't swim, don't care to learn.

What one artwork, book, movie, painting, song, that most people aren't aware of should everyone experience before they die? I'd want everyone to read one of the great comics, Watchmen, or possibly "The Anatomy Lesson" from Swamp Thing. Comic books as capital A art.

Either Will Eisner - Dropsie Avenue or Lydia Millet - Omnivores.

Have you ever been mugged or robbed? I haven't, but only because I was extremely quick on one occasion.

No, but I probably will eventually given the place I live (downtown LA.)

Worst drug you've ever done and do you regret it? For me - Marijuana about 6 times, I don't regret doing it because I wanted to know what it was like, and it turns out it isn't for me.

Do you like the beach or mountains better? It's a really hard decision for me because I live in the lovely Rockies, but I'd have to say the beach. I find watching and listening to the waves come in very relaxing and reflection-inducing.

The beach: Bathing suits and the ocean. Not for me.

The mountains: I like looking at them from a distance, but hated driving through them to get past the continental divide.

I'll go with the mountains. The bathing suit thing makes the beach the less pleasant of the two upleasant choices.

You sit down to order a carbonated beverage. Did you just order a soda, a pop, a soda pop, a soft drink, or a coke? For me, it's a soda.

It's a brand new house, just two months since completion. Not much work to be done, but the little stuff Grace and Sissy know how to do. Anything bigger means hiring a specialist.

What is your favorite sport to participate in?

I'm a runner. When my arm heals to where the impact vibration doesn't cause a lot of pain, I'll go back to it. I was up to 4.2 miles a day before the accident, and closing in on five. Now it's forty minutes on the no-impact eliptical. It's so boring I sometimes think my brain will explode.

I played Lacrosse (goalie), Track (Sprints), and Roller Hockey (goalie) in high school. I'd say I had the most fun playing as roller hockey goalie....I fucking hate running.

QUESTION for next: Biggest regret in life?

I was on this girl's bed in high school...her asking me, "what do you want to do?" and I was such a pussy I didn't even kiss her, being brainwashed to "respect women" (to an absurd level, still do for the most part, but not a pussy about it) when in hindsight she was begging for action.

That happened to me on one occasion. Then there was the time that news of a truth or dare game got out to a girl I really wanted to have sex with. She found out, and came up to me with a big smile on her face to let me know she knew. I was embarassed and walked away. I finally figured that out ten years later.

Is the light at the end of the tunnel or are you just walking in?

It's at the end of the tunnel for me.

Peanut butter or just butter, but never the two together. Strawberry and Raspberry jam and Marmelade are also tasty. (with or without PB)

I prefer Nutella on fresh, squishy white bread, rather than toast.

Edit: Too late - I like to just wander around the neighbourhood - through the streets and back ally's. I window shop, look at the houses and people watch. I find this very relaxing. I miss the days when I had time to catch matinee movies on a whim too.

What's your favourite type of pie? Apple is best, but I love all kinds. Except cherry.

My wife and I had burgers at Lone Star while we discussed our sick cat and the large amount of poop our main dog supplied us with yesterday. Then when we got home, we found our auxiliary dog had broken into the trash and spread coffee grounds all over the carpet.

Who's going to win the NCAA touorney? I'm pulling for Duke, but I think I picked UConn.

After last night, I'm thinking maybe LSU. I picked UConn, too, and know after watching the games tonight, I'll probably change my mind. Again.

When did you last attend a funeral? I went to my grandmother's yesterday. She was 98, and the death was not unexpected.

What was the last thing that made you realize you're not as young as you used to be? I just got a high school reunion invitation (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, sorry, had to get that out of the way), reminding me how long I've been going to school continuously and how long it's been since I left home.

I absolutely hate it. Truman did something interesting with the WH press pool. He invited them into the oval office, and gave them all the info about the pending D Day invasion.

When a reporter asked if it would be disasterous if they reported the plans, Truman said yes, and it was up to them how and when to report it.

When put in that kind of situation, any decent journalist will be responsible.

What are your weekend plans? We're going to grocery shop and keep an eye on our sick cat.

I was in Niagara On The Lake, about the only town in the whole region that successfuly maintained power. That afternoon, I was pulling out of my driveway there to drive to Toronto for the weekend, when I noticed that almost none of the radio stations were coming in. I stopped, tuned around a bit until I found an active station and heard the news. The full scope wasn't known yet, so the big story at the time was the absolute traffic chaos downtown and on the highways. Dejected, I turned around and stayed there.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed not to be there, despite the inconveniences. I was a little jealous of all the spur of the moment BBQ's, block parties and civic good will that flourished that weekend. After it got dark, I went down to the lake, where you can normally see the glow and skylines of Burlington through Toronto, but instead, only saw stars. I sat down for a spell and enjoyed the view.

How did you cope in your last major blackout?

What do you do for Sunday dinner? We usually either go to or have my folks over, we have dinner & play cards. My parents are aging (mom's 80 & dad's 86) and we want to spend as much time as possible with them. Usually, my wife's mom joins us.

Do you do anything special with family regularly, or even semi-regularly? What is it? Do you enjoy it?

Christmas I am subjected to my family for dinner... I do not enjoy it... It's yet one more day for me to hear all about how I've screwed up my life and how I will never find anyone to love me.... blah blah blah... and how it's a shame that I've not had chidren because children are the be all and end all of the universe... Yeah -- whatever...

What do you think of your family? mine are lovely people, and extremely helpful to everyone else -- their idea of helping me is to criticize every choice I've ever made.

I like my family just fine. My parents are both dead (2004 and 2005), but my two brothers are nice guys. I'm closer to those I go to church with, though.

Have you been watching NCAA basketball games? I watch every year, but this year, the quality of the games, i.e. how close so many of them are, have made it MUST SEE TV for me.

I think you are thinking of Roosevelt; Truman wasn't even VP in June 1944, was he? Or maybe a different invasion in the Korean War, perhaps?

I rented Primer: a high concept sci-fi about want, greed, friendship and trust. In it, two engineers build a backwards running time machine in their garage. What happens next (before?) is pretty original, if a bit confusing - Paradoxes are a bitch.

I recommend it, with the caveat that you'll likely need to watch it a second time or go online to read the competing fan theories about the plot. It's also a talky film with very little action and made on a shoestring budget.

What's next on your fun-stuff-to-buy list? I'm looking for a cool piggy bank for my son.

We've not made any yet, but this serves as a reminder to bring it up to the missus. I need to block off some time on my calendar as soon as I can and then work around it.

How many vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles) have you owned in your life? I'm 47, and am on number 7. That does not count the vehicles that we have considered to be my wife's ride--I've been a co-owner on those, too, and that would be 6 more since we married 25 years ago.
