My desk is disturbingly mundane. In the past, I've kept a dahla horse, which I could go get right now. In fact I will. http://www.lindsborg.org/wild_dala.htm

When and what was the last new year's resolution you kept?

I don't think I've kept any. Ever.

777 06-07-2006 11:09 PM

I don't make New Year resolutions. Why wait until we change the calander to improve ourselves?

Ain't this the coolest thing ever (in a geeky way)
http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/input/8193/ ?

I don't know about you, but this reminds me of the Final Fantasy Movie...

little_tippler 06-08-2006 05:29 AM

Damn! That's pretty awesome, if a little pointless except for saving room. Now I want one.

Do you ever feel claustrophobic, just hypothetically?

I tend to think I'm not but when I imagine the subway stopping for an hour at rush-hour with me in it I kind of feel panicky.

maleficent 06-08-2006 05:35 AM

I never used to... I lived in NYC for years and rode the subway in extreme crowds... until one night, I had gone to the San Generro Festival, a very cool street fair, and it was so crowded, I literally got swept up in a wave of people and totally lost my friend who i was with, then I tripped and got walked on by a few people (who couldn't stop because of the crowd) Someone, I have no idea who, helped me up and got me out of the crowd because at that point I was having trouble breathing...) I thought I was Ok... but a few months later I went diving.... and had to surface pretty quickly because I got that same feeling of not being able to control where i was and have not been able to dive since and now it's even worse I can't be in a crowded area unless I have a clear shot at the door to get out...

What's your biggest irrational phobia?
i am creeped out by clowns.. and will cross streets to avoid them... they just give me the heebie jeebies...

Grasshopper Green 06-08-2006 05:58 AM

Irrational? I guess that would have to be dogs. I was absolutely terrified of them as a child and like you with your clowns (which seems to be a more common phobia than I realized...I know several people with the same one), I would cross streets or add extra blocks to my voyage just to avoid them. I've gotten better with the phobia as I've gotten older, but large dogs, certain breeds, and very loud dogs still scare me.

Do you use the phonebook? I rarely do anymore, I tend to look up things on the internet and usually end up having to hunt for the phonebook on the rare occasion that I do need it.

AVoiceOfReason 06-08-2006 01:26 PM

Yes, I use the telephone directory all the time. At the moment, I'm on vacation and have used it for maps and other information I've wanted.

Do you like to read murder mysteries? I read a lot of books about attorneys, and many of them involve someone accused of a murder they didn't commit. That's not quite the same as the genre where the detective figures out "whodunit" but it's pretty close, as the attorney has to figure out who instead of the accused did the crime.

maleficent 06-08-2006 05:29 PM

When I was a kid I used to love Ellery Queen and Agatha Christie -- now, for fun I do like the legal thrillers, I like murder mysteries but I like a little more of a story to 'em... it's pure brain candy but it's fun to read - espcially now tha summer is coming.

Are there any words, that if a gun were held to your head, you would not be able to spell? Mine would be Recco - recomend - reccommend - Whatever- Suggest...

777 06-08-2006 10:26 PM

Refriderater. Which is an irony, since I sell fridges part time :)

If you became a street performer, what would be your act? I'd use my kung fu training to do a few stunts and teach a few moves too.

Grasshopper Green 06-17-2006 07:37 AM

I always wanted to learn how to make ghastly, silly hats out of balloons. I guess it's not a street performer per se...but it's close enough.

What did you have for breakfast? I had scrambled eggs, sausage, and some ripe, beautiful strawberries. MMmmmm..ripe strawberries.

Charlatan 06-17-2006 09:50 AM

I had a cafe mocha... made with my stove top espresso maker and some really good hot chocolate.

Then I forgot to make food...

What are you doing for Father's Day? I will be getting breakfast in bed followed by a round of golf and then dinner with my Father in law.

avocette 07-09-2006 12:21 AM

I think we were very optimistic as monkey relatives inventing Father's Day.
Mother's Day and maybe Oldest Child in the Family Day for most of us would be more realistic. However, it's a thought for the future. Glad to hear someone is celebrating in style. I usually just hope no one asks me that question-hide out until Father's Day is over. :-o
What would you consider fairly permanent gained ground for the human race?

jimk 07-18-2006 11:09 AM

MILD political correctness.

not the trendy kind that doesn't allow you to say anything (good or bad)about anybody of a different race or gender, but the subtler form that makes you look like a total moron for uttering racist, sexist jokes or slurs.

when was the last time you started using the bathroom before noticing there wasn't any toilet paper?

777 07-19-2006 09:16 PM

The day before yesterday. It's a curse in our household. You can hear someone calling for toilet paper from the bathroom at least weekly.

Paper, sissors, or rock?

Rock!

shesus 07-30-2006 07:48 PM

I prefer paper. And now I win. :) Paper covers rock.

What is the strangest thing you saw this week?

While driving through Wisconsin, we spotted a small cross on a hillside in the middle of nowhere with a hat resting on top of it.

Gilda 07-30-2006 09:08 PM

I walked into the kitchen to find my sister, the genius medical student, frying bacon in a sauce pan with an empty skillet hanging from the rack above her.

What is "your song" if you have one? For Grace and me it's "The Shape I Found You In" by Girlyman.

Favorite State/Province?

-Doesn't get better than California for me.

hotzot 07-30-2006 11:54 PM

I think the state of bliss is my favorite.

Are you a self starter? Or do you need a push?

fresnelly 08-18-2006 04:21 PM

The best motivation for me is a looming deadline, so I guess I'm not much of a self-starter.

What do you think of the name "Hannah" for a baby girl? I like it.

ngdawg 08-18-2006 06:34 PM

It's a nice old fashioned name that fits both baby and adult (can't stand all those 'ey' names, like Tracey, Ashley, etc. An 80 year old Tracey? *gag*
I wouldn't name a girl Hannah if the last name was Barbera though.:D

If someone has something odd on them, ie; paper stuck to their back or they have their fly down, would you inform them even if they're a complete stranger?

maleficent 08-19-2006 06:26 AM

I've done it more than once.. sometimes I get a thanks -other times I get a mind your own business.. the only time i won't if it's some male with his fly down.. I don't want them to think i'm checking out their packages... :D

When did you last do laundry and do you separate your colors?
I did laundry last night and stuffed everything into one load.. I'm cheap.. :D

777 08-19-2006 10:41 PM

Sometime last week. Or was it 2 weeks ago... don't remember. Gotta wash on Monday. For a time, I didn't seperate, then I noticed that my whites were turning a demin blue. Now I just toss mix them all in the dryer.

What's your favorite gadget? Mine is a tie between my USB drive/mp3 player (listen to lectures on the bus, and share data with friends without burning discs) and my DS Lite. Especially once I hack it and turn it to a Wi-Fi detector :)

avocette 08-25-2006 07:36 PM

Data from Next Generation

Ooops!
How much land do you have to own to be Landed Aristocracy?

777 08-28-2006 09:56 PM

I have no idea avocette.

How do you like to be looked after when you're ill? Personally, I don't want anyone else sick cuz of me, so everyone stay at least 5ft away. And I do enjoy a mug of Earl Grey. Too bad I'm the only one that makes it the way I like it :)

Jetée 05-11-2008 05:18 PM

If I am to be bedridden on account of illness, I honestly have no idea what I would prefer. Experience has shown me that solitude can be befitting, yet it does not always remedy the situation.

It remind of an ancient Egyptian parable; one in which I would much like to envision myself in...

"I think I'll go home home and lie very still,
feigning terminal illness.
Then the neighbors will all troop over me to stare,
my love, perhaps, among them.
How she'll smile while all the specialists
snarl in their teeth!--
she perfectly knows what ails me."

Whenever you are free to go to the supermarket, what is one item in which you go beyond any and all means to obtain no matter what?

ring 05-11-2008 08:08 PM

Ripe avocados.

Do You have a regret that haunts strongly enough to hamper growth?
If so , would you feel comfortable and trusting enough to tell us what it is?
