My favorite tasty animal flesh would be a nice rare tuna steak.
What was your favorite toy as a kid? Mine would have to be a tie between my matchbox car collection, or my Weebles jet. |
My favorite toy was my GI Joe tank. It took 8 D-cell batteries, and it was awesome. It ran over my legos like a real tank would have.
What is your favorite Artist? I like Monet. |
That's a tough question. As far as painters go, I've been a fan of Klimt since I first saw his paintings in the opening sequence of the film, Bad Timing: A Sensual Obsession.
There are many other types art and artists that I greatly admire, but Klimt is the painter I can readily point to and say, "him." Do you have a favourite pair of underware? I have a black pair of Stanfield's (cotton fitted boxers) that I wear to important meetings. |
As a matter of fact, I do. I have a set of polypropylene (sp?) long underwear that keeps me toasty when it is REALLY cold. I find that I am in a good mood whenever I wear them... possibly because I am warm and comfortable.
Do you ever do things that are patently "Trendy"? I wear a baller wristband (2, actually). |
No. If I did, the trend would instantly be over. I don't like to go where the crowds are.
I'm Baching it tonight, and my exciting plans consist of writing up my last few articles due before I quit tomorrow. What would you do if you were/are on your own tonight? |
too slow...
trendy? Me? I'm an uber dork...I wouldnt know a trend if it jumped up and bit me on the nose... my ipod was as close to trendy as I got - but that crashed and burned on me and now i'm stuck with a crappy cd player cuz i'm too cheap to get a new ipod... I'm on my own every night... I would make dinner, watch television, read a magazine, play on the internet, I m ust get my taxes done tonite.. but that's pretty m uch m y boring life.. What's for dinner tonite? I'm making chicken in black bean sauce... |
Dinner? Um.... no idea. Probably nothing. Often times I skip meals for no apparent reason, even though I'm hungry. Today will probably be one of those days.
What is the most expensive piece of electronics that you have bought (excluding computers)? |
Quote:
That we've bought as a family? It's either the TV or the reciever. I think the receiver, a Denon avr 5805. Unless speakers count, in which case it's the speakers, Axiom Epic 80 600. What one material object luxury would you most miss if you had to give it up for good? I'd miss the computer the most, I think. It's through the internet that I come closest to having actual friends. Gilda |
I'd miss the internet\computer use the most as well. If I stop and think about how much time I spend on the various internet things I do, it's almost scary. Almost. :P
What was the defining moment of your life so far? |
Giving birth, although it was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be.
Which finger is your favorite, and why? |
Quote:
How often do you turn/rotate your mattress? We rotate ours end to end once a week when we change the sheets. Gilda |
Delmonico steak, medium. Veggie: Portobello mushroom. I once had a vegan freind fix me a grilled portobello mushroom. It was awesome. He had marinated it in some sort of lime cilantro thing. Man, that was good.
edit: dang it, too slow. Rotate the mattress every Saturday. What is the best restaurant you've ever eaten in? |
Jean Georges in NYC - owned by celebrity chef Jean Georges Vongrichtensomethingorother... Outstanding service... impressive wine list with wines from 20 dollars to well over 1000 dollars (the 20 dollar wines were quite good)... The food was incredible.. but the service... Totally unobtrusive.. but we never wanted for anything - the water glasses magically got refilled... we needed something - -the waiter appeared... and then they'd disappear just as quickly... dinner for four people I think came to over 1000 dollars - it was an incredible treat...
These days, I slob out a lot more - JG was great for dress up - but I'm muchmore casual - and prefera good burger, crispy fries and an ice cold draft I'm contemplating a move in the next few months, if you could live in any city, where would you live and why? |
I'd live in London. I've said it before, but when I am there, the place just sings to me. Despite never living there, it always feels like home (that said, I hear Canada is nice too).
I am flying to Europe tomorrow. When was the last time you flew and where did you go? |
Chicago. It's a nice city, with lots of things to do, and the suburbs there are the same as all the other Midwest suburbs. I also have an aunt and some cousins running around there. :)
What is your favorite board game to play? Edit: BAH! The last time I flew I went to Cancun during the Winter break of 1999-2000. I suspect the process would be more stessful now. What is your favorite board game to play? |
last year about this time.........we hit disneyland.
just made a nasty pot of coffee........you ever make a bad pot of coffee? |
board game to play - Monopoly or Life
Bad coffee?? Yup... but it's not something i talk about i dispose of the evidence and start over... :) or use it to water the rose bushes... What's one of your favorite movie quotes... the one on my mind these days is from The Lion in Winter... "When the fall is all there is, it matters. " |
I don't make or drink coffee, so nope, never have.
Have you ever thrown up on someone? |
Oh yeah...when we first got our coffee maker. Tasted like old shoes. We generally screwed up the first few attempts with most new household applicances.
That said, what's the weirdest thing you've ever put in a microwave oven? |
I don't give any movie quotes too much weight, but my mind keeps coming back to James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause, yelling "You're tearing me apart!" at his parents.
Edit: Whoa. Traffic jam on the thread. I've never thrown up on anyone, but a friend once got drenched by a stranger on a rollercoaster. The strangest thing I've put in the microwave would be an old J-cloth. It seems to eliminate the skanky smell. What's the next movie you're looking forward to seeing? I'm going to go see Inside Man tomorrow evening. The trailer looks amazing, so I'm working hard to keep my expectations low. |
I too want to see Inside Man but won't have time. I will likely be watching whatever they play on the plane tommorow (edit: just checked and it looks like it will be Pride & Prejudice).
I needed sunglasses this morning, is the sun shining where you are? |
Unfortunately yes it is.. Severe clear, as they say.
Have you ever been bitten by a wild animal? |
No. Unless bugs count. Or one of our cats, who fancies herself Montecore, and everybody in her path is Roy.
Have you ever skinny dipped? I have. |
Not only have I skinny dipped, I've gone Polar Bear Skinny dipping! (My balls still haven't dropped)
Do you lend money to friends? I don't. |
For things like lunch and all that, yes. I know where to find them when I'm low on cash too!
Do you tend to hold it for a long time when you have to poo (choosing time and place sort of thing), or do you run for it? When I have to go, that's it, it's time to go. |
The images that are running through my head... Run! Jess! Run!
I don't hold it any longer then I need to. I can and will hold it if the nearest toilet is disgusting or if I know I will be home soon. Otherwise, I go when I it's ready. I need a new suitcase, my old one is about six years old and it needs some serious repairs. When was the last time you bought a suitcase and what does it look like? |
I bought a new duffel bag two years ago from the MEC. It's honkin huge (I think it is their biggest one) and it comes with wheels/handle, but it also has zipaway backpack straps. I think it's great cause it's made of real heavy duty material, and I can put all my work gear, including 2 pairs of steeltoe boots, in it and there is room for more. This is the same one, but mine has wheels.
http://images.mec.ca/media/Images/Pr...9830536535.jpg I had to get a new passport recently. Do you have one and do you think it was an incredible pain in the ass to get it? |
bought it about 2 years ago... (that's about the limit a suitcase could handle the constant travel I was doing) It's a grey blue (Makes it super easy to spot on the baggage carousel) with a big red hello kitty luggage tag on it... and inline skate wheels, and a retractable handle that you have to push a button to get to... (the button prevents the handle from breaking... I think the manufacturer is Skyway... It also easily fits into the overhead luggage bin...
Too late My passport is about 5 years old -- and was super easy to get -- got my pictrues taken at the Port authority after waiting 2 minutes in line - printed the form online - and then went to the main post office in nyc (I worked 5 blocks away) to get it filled.. on a rush order - I had it in my hands in 2 weeks. I have a container of black licorice on my desk - and i'm getting abused for it -- apparantly it's not as good as the chocolate I usually supply for my colleagues.. What's your opinion on licorice. |
I'm not a black licorice fan, but I like the licorice allsorts. You should tell your colleagues to get stuffed! buy their own damn treats!
I made tortellini the other night and it sucked. What have you made recently that was terrible? |
On the weekend, I poured orange juice on my cereal by mistake. That's right. I made a bad bowl of cereal.
If you ever do this, do not give in to temptation and try it. Trust me. If a friend won the lottery, would you accept the gift of a large amount of money? In the end, I probably would, but only after a serious sit-down discussion about it's meaning and his expectations. I would insist on a specific amount that say, paid for my kid's tuition, and was not just an extravegant round number. |
No I wouldn't... money and friendship are a bad mix... my imaginary friend could set up a trust for my imaginary children, or take me on an imaginary vacation...but just handing over a lump sum to me - -I'm way too untrusting of people's motives... I couldn't accept any money..
Are you looking forward to opening day for baseball? It's been a long winter- I need me some yankee baseball - OK I live in the hell that is new england but I can find me some yankee baseball I know I can... |
Hell no. I find baseball to be boring and detestable.
How much money do you have in your wallet/purse/pocket right now? |
Easy $0.00
What kidn of shoes are you wearing? I'm wearing black suede slip ons. |
Converse Chuck Taylors - purple with black laces.
I hate umbrellas, even when I get terribly wet in a rainstorm. Do you own an umbrella? If so, what does it look like? |
Nope, I don't own one. I used to have a small black one when I first moved out of my parent's house, but I lost it shortly thereafter.
Do you like wearing hats? What hat do you wear the most? |
I wear a green beret most of the time.
But I like fitted baseball hats, too. Would you rather starve for a day or go sober for a month? Me? I'd live without the food for 24 hours... what does that say? |
never starve for a day
sober for a month yes. Have you lost your mobile before? Do you think it's quite a bitch if you do? |
A few years ago, I was on the train from NY to Washington DC, and took a quick nap, when I woke up, my laptop, Palm and Cd player were still there, but my cell phone was gone... Replacing the phone was easy... Replacing all the numbers in the phone was a freakin' nightmare... I did not have one phone number committed to memory and was pretty much screwed...
When's the last time you had a cast on a part of your body? what'd you do to get that cast -- my left wrist/hand is currently encased in a soft cast... due to a tumble down a hill.. |
I was wounded in action and had casts on my left arm and knee. 3 months of PT...
That was 22 years ago... What's your favorite sport to particpate in? Do you belong to a league? Edit: Apoligies, VoiceOfReason reminds me that I should answer my own question. Bowling, and I'm in a league, and golf, but I'm not in a league. |
Quote:
Golf is now my favorite sport to play. I don't belong to a league, because I hate having to be somewhere at a specified time to have fun, and people depending on me to be there. It's too much like a job. Speaking of jobs, have you ever been fired? I don't believe I ever was fired from a job per se; I've been fired by clients, but when the day was over, I still had my job as an attorney. Since I'm the owner of the firm now, it's not likely I'll ever be fired! |
