You're right, Colborne is closer. It's just that whenever I hitch-hiked through the area, Brighton made more of an impression on me (due to standing under the overpass there for hours)
I will find a pic. where is this? Last edited by Leto; 03-07-2008 at 01:57 PM.. |

I think it's on Coxwell just south of Gerrard in Toronto.
I know I've driven by it a few times and seen it in the papers.

Somewhere in northern Ontario - note the pink granite in the aggregate used in the road construction.
In southern ontario, it would be limestone which is grey here. In northen Ontario, they use a lot of granite due to it being everywhere. Though not as far north as Timmins. The granite seems to die out around New Liskeard. |

there is something about that Beer Store that rings a bell... I just can't place it, yet.
It's got an industrial feel to and I want to say that its in the Thorncliffe or Laird Ave. area of town.

Hehe.... well, there used to be a strong (and enjoyable) western rep on this thread... my next pic (if i get a chance) will be a western one for sure... As for this current view from JTK... Would this fountain be a memorial or acknowledgment of some group? Iron workers by any chance? |

Here's a clue.... I was out looking at railway bridges for a job I was working on when I took this shot. So, it's close (very close) to a railway bridge!!!! It's a very unique fountain as well. |

That's has to be at Summerhill LCBO on Yonge Street, right on the south side of the bridge.

Sweet!!
I don't think that Beer Store is on the Beer Store website... OK. This is a little different. It's an older photo but I think there are some significant clues in the shot itself. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5178940383765937026"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/StevenMurphy001/R99K1v9LO4I/AAAAAAAACYU/jcykG3x3p2Y/s800/Where.jpg" /></a>

It's not Victoria and this street no longer has streetcar tracks. They've long since been removed.

The other view. This would have been waaayyy too easy. Yes, it is the tipping fountain in front of the old CPR Summerhill Station located on the CPR North Toronto Subdivision. Here is a picture of the Yonge Street Subway. (Subway being the correct name for a railway carrying bridge over a roadway.) Quote:
It's on "the Danforth" looking east from Broadview. I recognize the steeple in the background. The old Street car tracks were removed when the City built the Bloor / Danfort line in the 50's. Last edited by james t kirk; 03-19-2008 at 04:10 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

That's close enough. It's a little east of Broadview at the intersection of Logan and Danforth.
And the steeple was what I thought would give it away.

There you go...... Taken by yours truly and recently designated a "historical structure" BTW, I read in the Globe and Mail today that it was 50 years ago that Toronto council voted unanamously in favour for the construction of the Danforth Subway. Too bad we can't have that sort of political will today. |
