Doesn't look like granite, so I'll rule out BC. How about the limestone of the Niagara Escarpment?
|
Can you please be more specific JJRousseau
|
Fewf. I thought that was pretty good for a shot in the dark. OK, I'll shoot again. Lion's Head?
Do you want the route too??? Lost at Sea? |
well, the niagara escarpment is a pretty large feature, but in retrospect I guess you really can't identify a specific rock face. The answer I would have looked for was Rattlesnake Point which is a really cool provincial park with rock faces and lots of caves to explore.
Game on JJ |
Darn! I was going to say that.
|
JJ hasn't posted a new pic yet so I'll post one to keep the thread going.

Been sick.
But carry on. Damn small picture though. Another church? |
not a church..... sorry, couldnt find a bigger pic.
|
looks like a greenhouse...
|
It is not a greenhouse.
|
It looks like the ARK on Prince Edward Island
|
No, it is not on PEI.
***Hint*** This building is more recognizeable from another vantage point. |
is it in Edmonton?
|
Well this one is a guess, having never seen it, but is it Waterloo's Perimeter Institute of Theoretical Physics?
|
no, not the waterloo physics thingy (if such a thing truly exists), not in edmonton either.
***HINT*** This place is in Ontario ***HINT*** This is a museum |
Its not the Canadian War Museum is it? Your picture is so very small, but I can imagine the building being a 'sustainable' structure designed like the War museum. The green-ness could be 'river valley' too.
|
Hmm, doesn't look like the war museum, or the aviation museim or the Natl Art Gallery.
Is is part of a school? |
it is not the war museum.
**HINT** This place is within 150km of Toronto. ok another hint. **HINT** This place is on an island. |
i've looked all over for museums on islands near toronto. thought I was close with the earth science museum at Waterloo, except for the lack of island, or even general similarity to the structure...
more hints? |
**HINT** It is very close to a beach.
|
OK. Daval, it was a toughy, but I've narrowed it down to THE CORRECT ANSWER!!:
this is the museum on Nancy Island near Wasaga Beach, called The Friends of Nancy Island Historic Site. http://www.wasagabeachpark.com/ Having discovered this now, I can truthfully say that I have never heard of it before. And I grew up in Barrie, ffs. Off to find a pic... Here is a gimme... from my collection here at work: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/831ca0b2.jpg |
Welland Canal?
I've never been to Nancy Island either, but I've seen it many, many times when I'm at Wasaga Beach, you can see it both from the main strip area in front of the beer store, and can see it from the bridge crossing over the river. I thought this one would be easy. |
I'm almost positive that's the Peterborough Lift lock on the Trent Severn Waterway.
A friend has a cottage near there and she showed it to us once. Basically, you drive your boat into the lift, and the whole thing (water and all) drives up some tracks until you're level with the next stretch of river. Nifty! |
I agree, that's the Lift Lock. I remember posting another pic of the lift lock last year in this thread. If it's still there, it'll be somewhere in the first 10 pages or so.
|
you know, lift lock was my first guess, since i think i'm the one that solved that one however long ago it was, but the perspective kinda messed with me, hence my welland guess. I was gonna say both but can't really say multiple answers.
|
Totally not the Welland Canal, i know that place like the back of my hand.
|
Game on Fresnelly you are exactly right.
(ya Lucifer, I guess you would know the Welland Canal!) - Daval - i had a below shot before, and this is taken from the top... so you were right too. But in the end, game on to Fresnelly. |
Here are two photos that are unrelated except for being located down the street from each other:

Got a clue for those that don't have a clue?
|
took the words right out of my mouth
|
The Man is standing on an electrical generator and I think the building was used as the Police Station in the movie The Dead Zone.
|
University of British Columbia?
|
In Ontario
|
Adam Beck power station?
|
Niagara-On-The-Lake?
|
Hmm. Close call between Leto and Daval but neither is quite right.
That is a statue of Adam Beck, but we're not at the power station. Niagara on the Lake is nearby and home to much of the location filming for the Dead Zone, but also incorrect. So very warm. :D |
After looking for Adam Beck I came up with Jeff Beck, so on that note, I'm outta here and I'm going to listen to Truth.
Thanks fresnelly! |
i give up.
|
Well, Apparently there is an Adam Beck memorial on University Avenue at Queen St in Toronto. But the hills in the background don't look right
