Sorry to make everyone wait, but I will have to post the new pic tomorrow. Gotta run for now........
Sorry for the delay, here it is. Might be easy, but maybe not....oh.....I dunno. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg110/owlbill/2.jpg |
Hmm...that looks a little like Smiths Falls.....
It's not Smiths Falls, but it is in Ontario. (almost a gimme really)
Ottawa, Rideau Canal?
Maybeeeeee (read YES)............can you be more specific?
Pretoria Bridge
Bingo
point pelee marsh??
geez. i thought that one would be hard. game on billy
holland marsh area in Ontario?
Nope. Not any marsh. Also, farther east in Canada than the Holland Marsh area.
Upper Canada Village?
I guess that is good enough. Don't need to be too specific.
Yes, it is Upper Canada Village, the Tow Scow "ride". |
boy oh boy this game is just blazing along now!
I'm sure I've seen this pic on this thread before... hmmm... |
me too.........but i don't have the time to go through 60 pages......
it looks familar to me as well....
It may have been there before.
So was Upper Canada Village, it is hard to go through all the pages and see what was posted. Myabe that is a good holiday project. |
I went through about the first 15 pages this AM. Many of the photos are no longer showing. Does that make them fair game again? LOL
There is no rule against repeats, you just have the risk of people remembering and guessing very quickly....
have at her Bill
We are still on this one:
Quote:
Yes, we are. I have gone thru the trouble of checking all previous posts, and those that have photos remaining, do not match this photo. So.......no help there. LOL
Let's try to narrow the search a bit then shall we? Is it east or west of Winnipeg? |
I have a feeling that it is in Alberta. Is it near Drumheller?
Quote:
Is that enough of a clue? Let's see. |
Ah,..........Royal Canadian Mint Winnipeg.
owlbill, you are correct.
Your turn. |
It reminds me of an aircraft control tower.
I slept in that this summer!!! I have it! Let me just find the name ofit, I am sure I have it on a receipt somewhere!!
Kenora!! On Lake Of The Woods. I think that was the best western lakeside inn on the S.E. side of town. If anyone goes there DO NOT eat in the dinner on the top floor, bad food for a high price. |
wow.. really? I didn't know that Kenora had a high rise! good catch..

If no one gets this I can give lots of hints.
No idea where that is, but wow, thats visually stunning
It looks a little like Waterton. South Rockiesish at least.
Columbia Valley?
Its in Alberta...
Notice that its two separate lakes... |
Valley of Five Lakes, Near Jasper?
Nope.
There are 2 lakes. Upper ____ and Lower ____ |
I've been to the Kananaskis Lakes. I totally dismissed that idea.
But it fits your clues. Yeah, and if I look at the wiki page, its almost the same picture, but from the other side. I still can't see the vertical step in the picture posted, even though I know its there. |

Ok, not the most obvious photo, but another great example of how awesome Canada looks. |
Alberta, BC, or Ontario?
Yes. Yes it is.
I'm 95% sure that this is in Alberta. It isn't impossible that its in BC. |
Along the elbow river?
Nope.
Kicking Horse River?
The Kicking Horse is in BC. I've now confirmed that this is 100% Albertan.
is it in kananaskis?
Not in Kananaskis, to my knowledge. I had to double check though.
Well I'm going to be off on a weeklong, computer free holiday starting tomorrow around noon.
Spoiler: This is near the headwaters of the Oldman River in southwest Alberta in the Rocky Mountain foothills. Good for rafting and flyfishing and looking around and saying 'holy shit this is nice' |
ok, so I haven't looked at the spoiler, but have no idea of the location. Anybody care to post a new pic, or give a guess?
someone post a pic. I declare it open season.
Wolf Islander III ferry in Kingston Ontario?
Game on owlbill, good guess!
Ok, this one might take a few clues to guess............
http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg110/owlbill/5.jpg |
Random warehouse on a random mud field?
ok, right off I see gravelly parking lot as well as drainage cut into the ground. Also, lots of tire tracks and rugged vehicles, radio antennae. This looks like a communications / depot in a poor drainage area (possibley a permafrost zone?).
Also, there are no trees in view on the horizon. Is this in the high arctic? It looks too warm for it to be Resolute, Pang or Alert, yet too remote to be Ft McMurray... |
Ok, it is in the arctic, but at this point, I will not confirm nor negate any specific locations mentioned. Specifics would be good though :-) (ok, guess that is a hint)
is it in Nunavut?
Yes, it is in Nunavut.
is this the
"Canadian Forces Station Alert" Alert, Nunavut Canada |
No, you are too far north.
is it in Cambridge Bay?
nope, this "destination" is farther north, and farther east.
Resolute.
Technically yes.....but what is the structure?
That has got to be the airport! I think I see a flat section of ground in the back, could it be the runway?
Yes, it is YRB (Resolute Airport in Nunavut). Sorry if that one was too obscure guys.
so... who's got it? ( i have a really intriguing pic to post...)
Here goes. I have no idea who these people are. If I am not aloud to show random people please let me know and I will change the pic.
http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/3...piesaithu9.jpg |
The building reminds me of Toronto High Schools I've seen in the past..... Am I on the right track?
ya, like Lawrence Park Collegiate.
- I think it's alright to show random people, as long as they are over 18 years old... |
No where even close to Toronto....
But yes you are on the right track |
It looks like the Alberta crest above the doorway, but it doesn't look like the Legisltature.
Bossnass is narrowing it down
is it a high school in Lethbridge?
is it a high school in Lethbridge?
nope, more north
ok, is it in Calgary somewhere? (did you go there by any chance?)
yes and yes (currently going there)
Heritage Hall at Sait. Looks nothing like Nait, apparently.
Ah: The University of Alberta was also housed in Heritage Hall at that time as an extension campus to offer university courses to Calgarians. This arrangement continued until the establishment of the University of Calgary in 1960. If I have it right, Leto, please post your intriguing pic. I'm going to be hung up at work for a while and really don't have the time to be online right now. |
Yup heritage hall is correct. Many of my classes are in that building
excellent pic blah... Thanks Bossnass, I'll post it right away.
Where can you find this?: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...0/IMG_0173.jpg |
East coast?
Probably an old light tower (I cant think of the word... is it called a light tower?), could be in Halifax. |
the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove
You're right bill, I'm 99% certain. I have a very similar photo, but with my wife smiling and sitting beside the sign in the stone.
lighthouse! thats the word I was looking for. Thanks
yes, lighthouse is an excellent word for it! And Game On Owlbill this is exactly at Peggy's Cove, warning tourists of getting too close to the waves.
Either Ontario or BC?
Those yellow things in the front look like the wooden clogs you see in Holland
It is in Ontario
storybook gardens?
nope, further north.
Santa's Village?
no, that is too far north. Also, this photo was taken farther west than Santa's Village and Storybook Gardens.
The key item in the photo is the fountain in the background. Yes, I said fountain. |
