Parkas - Ben is getting a new one!
Well, this could not be a Canadian place unless we talked about the weather, and how winter is really finally here;
My old wool peacoat is getting a little drafty, and my ski jacket has that little ridge of fabric beside the zipper that gets caught every fucking time I zip it up... My buddy ordered 15 parkas for his hockey team (Sponsors helped him out), and one of them doesn't fit. It is an XL, and low and BEHOLD!!! Who is the biggest guy that he knows that would possibly fit this thing? BIG BEN, That's who!! http://www.canada-goose.com/images/%...6b173c5%7D.jpg Ooooh baby, I am going to do some serious ice-fishing this winter. I won't even need a fishing shack! I'll be that crazy guy standing out there in the blizzard. |
oooh and you'll glow in the dark too...
love the sassy fur color... you'll be so stylin' ... |
Ben... that is one serious bit of cold weather gear. It's the one thing that most who ask, "how can you stand the cold?" forget. It's all in the preparation.
Good warm boots? check Good warm coat? check Gloves, scarf and hat? check, check, check! Once you are bundled up there's nothing to worry about... except falling over and not being able to get back up. But that hasn't happened since I last wore a snowsuit... Who says, winter is bad? Bring it on baby! |
Sweet parka Ben. That looks incredibly Great White North worthy.
How is it for mobility though? Or does it not really matter just peering down into a hole in the ice and watching the tip line? Quote:
I've always agrued that there is never a shortage of options for the cold, but one can only get ~so~ naked and that's as far as you can go for the summer. I don't usually get alot of agreement on this though :confused: -bear |
I am incredibly jealous. I imagine you'll look amazing in your new parka.
I want a parka. It's been as cold as Canada here lately. It hit -5 (that's Celsius, since I'm in the Canada forum) today and it isn't warming up. I am in desperate need of winter weather gear...never really needed it before :( |
Wait, is that a Canada Goose? Man those are like $600 parkas. Here in Yellowknife, where we suffer the -50 and all, that's considered top of the line.
I'll trade you for my Carhartt winter wear. I'll throw in a case of beer and the 7 sweaters I need to wear UNDER my Carhartt winter wear too! |
I wore it today (-20) and it was incredible.
It was like the parka was making sweet, passionate summer love to me. Yes, it is a Canada Goose. I really lucked out. It is the Resolute Expidition series. Dark blue, not red like in the picture. There are little mesh pockets sewn into the underarms on the inside. I looked at them, wondering... Then I saw THE HOT POCKETS!!! Oooooh baby. And mobility is great. It is a little too fluffy, and I look like I am about 7 feet wide. Remember, boys and girls, when selecting a parka you want to trap that warm air against your body, so it should feel a little loose. You can use layered clothing to bulk up a bit. The hood is fantastic. A wired cuff that you can shape depending on the wind, and a genuine coyote fur trim that actually folds in so that the hood turns into more of a tunnel! (ben does his happy dance) One drawback: It is a big fucking coat, and when I hung it up it took up most of the closet. |
