Calgary TFP Meet UP
 

Hey everyone!

This is a spin-off from the Calgary Roll Call thread, to talk about getting together over drinks and watching some football.

We have a TON of time to get this going, so TRY to get on board. This is fun after all. There will be no physical labour, no one will poke you with sticks or dip your hand in hot oil. You will not be forced to eat wax or soap, and no bites, human or otherwise, will be inflicted upon you.

All we are going ot do is meet at a bar, drink a couple of beers (or whatever), watch a football game, and maybe, hopefully, play some NTN as well.

So, here's the deal. The week after labour day there is always a Calgary vs. Edmonton rematch in the capital. This year, the details are as follows:

Friday, September 9 Calgary @ Edmonton 9:00 pm (ET) on TSN

So, the game is on, it starts at 7:00 pm (19:00 for normal people :) ) which gives everyone plenty of time to get there. It's a Friday so most people don't have to work the next day.

What we need is a central location that plays the game on a big screen, and also has NTN in case we need to do that too.

This is not tough, we can do this, and we have a couple of weeks. So, all you Calgary TFP clan members, let's get this moving. Minx? Feelgood? Sauve? blahblah454? Whoever else I missed - let's say hello.

PM me if need be, or just post here. Don't procrastinate like the spineless city council. Let's actually DO something.

Shanks (Skanks??) is not a bad place, I have been to the South one but the North location seems to elude me.

I dont know of any other places that do have NTN

I'm up for something.... just tell me where and I'll be there.

Feelgood is right, Skanks might be the best place. The service there sucks, but they have a huge freaking TV, so that kinda makes up for the service.

Other places to consider: The Killkenny, Molly Malones, Bass Brothers (next to MT Royal)...

Or whatever, let me know when and where and I'll be there.

Well, it looks like Schank's is getting the nod, so let's just commit.

We'll meet at Schank's Athletic Club - 9627 McLeod Trail on Friday, September 9 at 7:00 pm (19:00, of course!).

You don't have to reply yeah or nay, but acknowledgement would be fun, just because it gives us stuff to read on TFP when we're bored at work. :)

Try your best to clear your calnedar for that evening, it's still weeks away. You can do it. Really.

I gotta work that evening but I can take the night off, but only if more people are committed to it.

I'll put one foot in. Sorta uncomfortable stepping in enemy territory for the game though :P

Not too much of a football fan, but skanks is an alright place. And what the heck is NTN? I might be out of town that weekend, not too sure but I'll let you all know whats going on

Hey, what say so we recognise everyone we start a Calgary thread in portraits, I'll start it. Also, if I do end up going I am pretty easy to spot, not many guys around here have hair past their shoulders!

Sorry you had to find out the hard way skier, if I had seen your comment earlier I would have made an effort to get waaaay down there.
