Better than a microwave is to slide a bunch of empty beer bottles into the bottom of a bonfire (carefully!) and watch them melt. The entire bottle turns to molten glass and if you have a long metal marshmallow roasting thing, you can make cool sculptures by sticking the wire in there and pulling up and away from the fire as it cools. Carefully. Of course, we drank all the beer first. Let's hear it for backwoods Florida. Yee haw.

**Note: use a proper pit for the bonfire/campfire and just remember that the liquid glass will catch anything that it touches on fire. Learned it the hard way.

Fredweena, that's hilarious! Where in FL? I'm in Dade City. (not dade county, 2 different places!)

Aw, heck naw. There's a camp near a little bitty town between DeLand and Eustis on SR44. I worked there for years and we got very creative when too bored and no kids were on site. I think the Beer Bottle Sculptures are still around somewhere and that was 3 years ago. Facinating. We even stuck bottle caps in random spots as they were cooling, once we got more advanced. and blended the Heinie, Corona and Bud bottles for color variations.

There's nothing anywhere near camp. Unless the Blind Pig or the 'Horn (I refuse to call it Big John's, it'll always be the Longhorn!) are open... and then y'all are riskin' one of them there sheriff men pullin' ya over or takin' out some of the local wildlife on the road home. :lol:
