State of Origin

I was thinking about posting this in sport, but think it belongs here.

Series decider - Lang Park (I can't get to the point of calling it after it's sponsors name...)

Anybody else excited about tomorrow nights' game?

I'm going to the pub with a few mates to watch the game - this is going to be a ball tearer.

Go the blues!

State of Origin is not a sport, its in your blood. it would be a great injustice to put state of origin in the sport section with all the US sports, cos its meaning, appreciation and atmosphere would ultimately be withered away. State of Origin definately belongs here in the aussie thread.

as for the anticipation..oh im ready as ever! i have all the boys coming over tomorrow night! should be a good game. lets squish those toads and show em who rules supreme!

p.s. spindles where bouts in sydney are ya?

I'm with Mephisto, except the western force. Go the tahs!

I couldn't give a shit about the origin. I'm sure I'm breaking some town law living in Newcastle saying that. I'll be hanged for treason tomorrow.

The great thing about origin is you just never know who is going to win. Heading into tonight's game, total games won since inception of origin were QLD 36 / NSW 36. At the end of the last series, total points scored in all games were QLD 1118 / NSW 1121. Total tries scored after tonight QLD 205 / NSW 205. Amazing!

i didnt enjoy the game as much as game 1. i wouldnt have mind if it was a nailbiter. its so muh better like that. never mind.

as for real footy..ive played both...league does it for me. union is just too start and stop. who said anything about being a running game..pfft!

p.s. cinnles expect a knock on the door 9am tomorrow morning. Newcastle fans apparently want to burn you at the stake. ive passed on your details to the newcastle knights website :P

here's to the bbq...cheers

So, much to my surprise, I've actually become a keen AFL supporter since I moved to WA.

Can't understand why it's not more popular in NSW.

You guys have got it all wrong. Soccer is the 'real' football. I cant wait till we get our act together with a decent league.

It was awesome seeing the Blues smash QLD last night though.

I dont mind AFL. I can see its appeal.

Lucky thing I slept in!

Their short attention spans must've caused them to forget what they were doing and go back to playing with their own faeces.

Welcome

I missed the game... mates from work wanted to go to the pub.. so I did. Being Victoria, the game wasn't on the tele there...

Can't remember who described AFL as "two hours of knock ons" but I agree with them. I played aussie rules growing up in SA and had heaps of fun playing it but I find it really frustrating to watch - just too scrappy and unstructured compared to the other codes.

I prefer to watch both league and union ahead of AFL and it doesn't get any better than state of origin.

i like that! two hours of knock ons. im adding that to my vocab!

the way i see it, in AFL, all u need is one supreme athlete like say carl lewis, with a wicked sidestep to run from end to run and kick a goal. only problem is mastering those knock ons as he runs full pace.
