Looking for French Canadian Songs to play

I will be visiting relatives for a large family gathering in two cabins in the woods of New Brunswick. I can play a guitar a bit and I was wondering if you know of any songs that wouldn't be brutal to learn, but that they would all be familiar with.

I would prefer if they were in french and most of my aunts and uncles are around 50-60. Their kids are more 20-35.

If you could tell me titles, or point me to tabs and lyrics that would be even better.

Daniel Lanoie (Lanoix?) did a few that would bridge the generation gap. An easy one for guitar was "Jolie Louise", IIRC.

3 of my personal faves:

Offenbach - "Pour une derniere fois"
Beau Dommage - "Blue d'la metropole"
Claude Dubois - "Femmes de reve"

If you are going to play any French songs on guitar at a cabin it has to be Harmonium.

Harmonium is (was?) an awesome Quebecois folk band from the 70's. Everybody knows them. Your family will recognize "Pour un Instant" and many others in seconds.

Any folk fan french or not would really like them.

Here is their site:

This in my opinion is there best album

Google Search for Tabs

I could not find any music samples aside from some crap midi files on Harmoniums site.

I agree with Sticky. Harmonium was an awesome band. They mostly used classical guitars (buncha hippies!), so their sound can be easily reproduced. "Pour un instant" is definitely one of their better known songs.

Thanks everyone. I'm working on it now.

Let us know which songs you are working on. And it would also be great to hear how it turns out.
