dammit, you didn't have to spill the beans! - yes if you examine your history, remember when Keanu Reaves went back in time and hooked up with Socrates? well, there's the Canadian Link to Plato. really this explanation just may fly... if enough of the brew is consumed beforehand. - and how about the different measures such as the Canadian method of alcohol by volume, and the American method of alcohol by weight? howmuch of an impact does that have on the relative alcohol contents? |
I tried to weigh some beer once but it kept running off my scale onto the floor. Seemed likes such a waste of beer... good thing it was an American beer. ;)
What I want to know what genius decided to measure a liquid by weight? He must have been drinking the stuff... |

I was on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills last January and saw Blanche de Chambly being sold in a ritzy restaurant. I thought that was kinda cool! I didn't buy it there though, because I can get that in Ontario. I bought Anchor Steam or somesuch.
In Ontario, I tend to buy Lakeport Honey or Laker red at a $1/beer if I'm going to be drinking alot. Otherwise Sleeman Honey. It tastes slightly better and the bottles are pretty. |
Woah! Blanche de Chambly on Rodeo Drive!? They were probably dazzled by the French words and put a 10$ price tag on every bottle.
It's the smoothest-tasting Unibroue product, so I'm not suprised that the gentry likes it. |
Salt Lake City, Downtown ... best little microbrews around

Any Torontonians ever been to the Granite Pub & Brewery? I love their Best Bitter. Awesome!
|
yes! its at Mt Pleasant & Eglinton? My doctor's office is in that building. I have often had a dinner there, and at the Chicken Deli across the street.

A lady in the beer store the other day bought a case of Keith's and was $ 40 bucks and change and was surprised my case was $26.40. She asked how it tasted. I told her as a former Keith's drinker, there wasn't much difference except for the $15 bucks in cost. She returned the Keith's and said the 15 bucks saved is going towards 2 rib steaks for her and her husband. I think Lakeport owes me a case. |

I also remember when you could only purchase liquor in the gov't run stores in BC. I ran a cold beer and wine store in the Okanagan and holy crap were we ever busy in the tiny tourist town I lived in! It was a mad rush, too, to get your off sales before they closed at 11:00. (Still the most stupid law they ever passed, IMO). |

If anyones in Calgary, you need to try anything from the Wild Rose Brewery
There Wild Rose Brown Ale is fantastic! |
Man, I'm glad that I can buy beer and even (cheap) wine in convenience stores in Quebec! The only times I go to the SAQ (Societe des Alcools du Quebec - provincial booze store) is to get hard liquor or decent wine/champagne, which I need in much fewer quantities. Plus, Quebecers can drink at 18 and the bars close at 3am!
It's party time. Donne-moi une Chambly. |
