Sorry for tainted blood. Now piss off.
This is a chapter in Canadian history where the big story gets stretched to the point of irrelevence through years and years of bureaucracy and legal red tape. Makes me ashamed to be a Canadian.
Your thoughts? Are you aware and do you care? Could you not care less? Let's hear it Canada. Does this make you proud? Or are we waiting for the Karla show to start? Quote:

I think that what happened was terrible, but I'm a bit worried that people will start to refuse transfusions with the reemergence of this story in the news. Even worse would be if people stopped donating.
I donate regularly, even though I almost pass out each time. I'd hate for people who would otherwise give blood to stop because of this. |

Just re read my post. Hope I don't get flamed for it.
This is something that just pains me because I have seen how families have suffered. My childhood buddy and still close friend lost his father to AIDS, because of tainted blood. The blood was given to him when both the government and Red Cross knew it was tainted, but didn't give a fuck about it enough to stop it. And hoops upon hoops jumped through with very little or nothing gained by my buddy and his family to seek justice. Know why? No one gives a shit. Even those responsible don't because they know that when something get's dragged out long enough, people forget. Not really their fault. There are plenty of things I'm not aware of either. Anyways, the lesson fir the day is; Try and give a shit about stuff like this because the day will come where frustration drives you to the brink of insanity only to be mirrored by everyone else who really doesn't give a shit either, relunctantly or not.

I heard that the criminal trials for the individuals involved in the scandal are still to come. It seems to me that attacking the Red Cross isn't going to benefit anyone (besides the people who perpetrated the blood scandal aren't there anymore, the Red Cross no longer manages our blood supply and it really isn't the same place it was back then).
To me, going after the idiots who gave the orders and broke the law is the only way anyone could get satisfaction out of these trials. Now if they get off with a slap on the wrist I *will* be pissed.
