Canadian Woman Wins Miss Universe 2005
CBC Toronto - Toronto woman named Miss Universe
I don't know what to say accept Congratulations to her, as she only the second Canadian to have won the title. I only watched a few minutes of the pageant. For some reason it just doesn't hold the same interest as it once did. A Miss Universe winner and an information technology geek at that? A woman after my own heart. =)

I heard this on the radio this morning... my first thought after hearing it was... "They still have these competitions?"
Still, I suppose it is a little bit cool that she's from Toronto...

The word is that she was actually born in Russia and came to Canada either 11 years ago, or when she was 11. Still, it does put us on the map, sort of. Saw pics in LINK. Not bad. Not great... She's no Jodie Vance... /Canadian reference

Hazel Mae went to ESPN and heard Jodie Vance liked the AdVANCEments of women. Holly Horton is another hottie. Miss Universe-- good looking girl but then they were all great looking. Especially the latinos---very spicey.

You have no love on for Jodie? I mean, she's maybe not smokin' but she is pretty hot. I was kidding when I compared her to Jodie, but in doing so I was saying I thought that the reigning Ms. Universe was kind of average...

I was so excited when I read this, because Latin America seems to own these pageants. Good for her and for Canada.....glad we are finally on the map for something like this. I dont care if she originalyl caem from Russia, she is as much of a Canadian as anyone else.

She's nothing compared to Jennifer Dawkins. No offense meant to my Canadian friends, but the new Miss Universe is not that hot at all. Warmish... but not hot. Mr Mephisto |

Yeah they definetely look for the package deal, which I appreciate. I would hate to have a completely superficial competition. It also depends what your type is......everyone's got their own opinion of what would be considered "hot" or "hottest" I guess.

when i first caught my glimpse of the top ten, before i could read their banners, 3 really stuck out as potential winners: the ones who I eventually found out were: Domincan Rep., Canada and Peurto Rico.
I personally thought that Domincan had it in the bag, but I'm glad that we fielded somebody that could break the latin american strangle hold... |

If you want to start getting into the debate about Canadian women, here it is:
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=74691 I have to go with Kathryn Humphries.

When I saw this story I was confused. Do we still have a real Miss Canada pageant? Who are the entries? I didn't think we still day any Miss (insert appropriate province) pageant. I thought all that was left was glorified bikini contests and "fitness" pageants.
