Mods if this should be in Entertainment please move, but I put it here because it's a Canadian show...

I've watched a few episodes. The laughs are plentiful, if you catch the subtle humour involved. A bit like Frasier.
The Hip and Colin James are slated to be on an upcoming episode. According to The Tragically Hip's website: Quote:

"A bit like Fraiser?" I don't really get that from it at all. If anything Corner Gas is more like a live action version of Family Guy, what with the absurdity and non-sequiter flash backs. Regardless its a great show, especially for a Saskatchewanian like myself.

Frasier has that type of witty humour you have to think about, which I think Corner Gas (and Trailer Park Boys) has to some extent. I love the flashbacks though! *shrugs*

I like the show, but I find it stretches my suspension of disbelief a bit much.
I mean, as if people actually live in Saskatchewan.

All right, pal. You just made the list. The list of people who we will try and convince that Saskatchewan is a cool place after all, in a non-violent and very intelligent manner. You have never experienced the joy of Cow-Tipping, Zamboni Sliding, or Jack-Lighting until you have performed those illicit acts in the land-of-living-skies...

I still maintain that the apparent population of saskachewan are just statistical outliers. I mean, less than 2*10^-6 people per square meter? Clearly just a sampling error.

What's truly amazing is that this show, a comedy, made in Canada is a success in Canada... they are getting close to 2 million viewers on any given night.
That is a lot of people for Canadian television.

Yeah, the whos is good live-action random humour.
Oh man... I live in Brampton: "The most boring suburb of Toronto". And Saskatchewan would make me shoot something. Likely myself. It's a good show though, It reminds me that there are areas of Canada more mundane than the one in which I live. |

You know I shunned this show for AGES on the basis that, given past history, the vast majority of Canadian humour sucks. Flame me all you want, with very few exceptions it's true.
The other day my computer was dead, there's no hockey, I HAD to watch it. I gotta say, I'm running out to buy the DVD's if I can find them. Surprisingly hilarious, we need more home grown television of this sort.

By that time, your shoulder is sore. You are thirsty. You are tired. The last thing you want to do is shoot yourself. There are serious prejudices about Saskatchewan, and although funny, they are often waaaaaaaay off the mark. I heard this one the other day though... "What has 50 legs and a cherry?" "25 girls from Brampton and a whiskey sour."

I didn't see it for a long time because I don't have cable, and Canadian television is hard to aquire through "other means." I finally saw season 1 a few weeks ago and it's brilliant! It's 20 minutes of pure sarcasm mixed with equal parts absurdity. Eric Peterson is my uncle by marriage and I intend to force him to keep making episodes if there is every any trouble.

Still, back on topic, his portrayal of "dad" should win him a Juno or something because he's amazing. It can't be easy to stay that "in character," especially playing a role as someone with so few social skills. But, as it has already been said, the high-brow and intellectual humour woven into the small town banter is so seamless and so unexpected, it just hits all the right chords. Truly one of the few real Canadian television gems. But I don't think you'll need to talk to Peterson, I think the show now has a life of its own, and it won't be going anywhere soon if it keeps getting the viewership it is. Peace, Pierre
