TSN's Jay Onrait
this guy irritates the crap outta me...ARGHH, i wanna kick him in the teeth so badly.
his sarcasm is so inapropriate, and hes never funny. He needs to drop the austin powers routine. http://images.tsn.ca/images/pictures/sc/jay_onrait.jpg |
You could have at least said,
"Discuss". So far, Jennifer Hedger, Jay Onrait...who's next? Dutch? Someone should say something about how his red cheeks and cowboy boots are just unforgiveable. ;) But to actually turn this into an interactive thread, I have noticed that the talent on TSN's Sportscentre / Sportsdesk (they never have been the same since the name change) has been suspect as of late. I miss the old days with Lisa Bowes (and her many questionable hairstyles) and the old crew. *sniff* Unfortunately, kolila, you're going to have to put up with all the dubious TSN "talent" even more at the 2010 Olympics. |
I agree, Jay Onrait is terrible. He's not even close to the talents of Rod Smith, Darren Dutchyshen, and Cory Woron.
The old Sportsdesk days were the best though. Michael Landsberg and Brendan Connor were an unbeatable team. |
Well I like him, he has a good one now and again. The others, although maybe more talented, I find them a bit on the boring side personally. And that Dutch guy always looks like hes wearing lipstick.
|
not to thread jack but, does it not look like at any moment that dutchy could grab whoever he is co-hosting with and strangle them. the dude is huge compared to the rest of the staff.
|
I like Jay Onrait. I don't really know what else to say after that.
Horray? |
Has there been a better catch phrase in TSN history than Dutchyshen's Back to back jacks (for back to back homeruns)? Possibly Vic Rauter's Make the final..(before stating the final score) but it was a bit overused....

Maybe not, but to me a joke is a lot better than those catchy catchphrase sayings that sportsreaders try so hard at initiating. |
I forgot about another great TSN catch phrase, former TSN hockey/baseball commentator Jim Hughson's That's hockey!, which I guess they ended up using for their hockey show of the same name.
|
remember those old commercials about tsn where they are having office games such as tossing the printer and that? those were the days...
|
I particularly liked Dutch's "he beats him like a rented mule!" (context: hockey goal)
|
I think they should axe Onriat and hire Chris Cuthbert. Cuthberts an awsome announcer and hope he gets back on the air soon
|
I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Cuthbert, even if TSN only hires him for CFL broadcasts
|
i still can't believe that cuthbert was fired. i like his reporting on cbc.
|
please look for a new job
This guy should look for a new line of work. I think he should try to hide the fact he is femine, if you know what I mean. There is nothing wrong with him swinging the other way, i know a few guys that swing that way butt they don't make it so obvious like this guy does, especially if you are a TV sports anchor.

Aside fom getting sports information about Toronto teams TSN sucks.
|
I caught Jay Onrait on CTV news at noon when I was in Toronto in January. What a goofball. He sounds like he's riffing on Jim Gaffigan's comedy style, which I can't stand for even a short period of time with that whiny, weeny voice that he uses and some really poorly timed comedy. I'm talking about Onrait here but I may as well be talking about Gaffigan, too.
