Tsunami Videos
This is pretty raw. I've never seen these videos. I guess they are too realistic for main stream media.
The waves didn't seem like much at first but they kept on coming. This is so sad on so many different levels. Damn!! That first video is the most amazing one. The water sorta washes ashore and then in under a minute the entire place is like 4 feet high in water. It's like someone just dumped a trillion gallons of extra water in the ocean that had to go somewhere.

I find these videos to be hopelessly fascinating. Maybe it sounds odd for me to say that, but why should I lie? I always wonder how I would react if faced with that sort of situation, but to actually SEE it happen and how people reacted to it as it was happening... is interesting beyond words.
To me the most fascinating ones are the last two. The man on the balcony kept trying to rationalize how everyone would be okay. In the last video, the couple take the huge wave as a lighthearted and laughable experience as they flee from it holding hands. I hate to say it but... if these videos aren't depictions of real life romance (in the classical sense, not the modern sense), then what is? I understand that there is a LOT of tragedy associated with this event, and I am in no way trying to nullify that fact with what I'm saying. All I am saying is that there are other aspects, along with the tradegy, to the tsunami. Current history classroom: Abraham Lincoln was killed by John Wilkes Boothe. ::class accepts statement as fact:: History lesson in the year 2100: Okay class, today we will be learning about the tsunami of 2004. We'll start the class off by playing these videos that document the actual event... ::class gets to see it is true::

Stiltzkin, interesting view of our daily events being transformed into history.
I seem to be mesmerized by these videos. I know that something terrible is going to happen in them but I still wanted to see them. Its interesting seeing and hearing the life and death situations these tourists are in and how they respond to it. Glad

Nowing how it turns out, made the last vidoe really scary.
You know that the guy just standing there watching the ocean will have no way to get anywhere safe even if he knew what was coming and would start running as soon as the video starts. Yet he stands there. We can't do anything to help him.
