Make Delta Cross - WTF?
Received this while at work today. I didn't realise there was such a hatred of her. I'm not posting this to "spread to word", more for the discussion it can cause. I think telling someone to go crucify themself is a bit harsh... and I don't really hate her that much.
Anyways, has anyone else seen this or even heard of it? ------------------------ Make Delta cross this Easter! <http://www.spinstartshere.com/?q=node/324> Submitted by The Hack <http://www.spinstartshere.com/?q=user/4> on January 17, 2005 - 21:14. Posted in Celebrities <http://www.spinstartshere.com/?q=taxonomy/term/34> Regular TSSH readers know we loathe Delta Goodrem, her oily management and her omnipresent manager/mother. Why? Because her management coldly used her brush with cancer - Hodgkin’s lymphoma – as a marketing tool to boost sales of her album. Because she asked for privacy from the media once she made her cancer diagnosis public, then whored the story to almost every glossy magazine in Australia. Because she and her management team cynically released information to media outlets about her break-up with tennis dud Mark Philippoussis – information designed to make him the bad guy – when tabloid reports now suggest Ms Goodrem had a relationship with married UK warbler Brian McFadden before the break-up. And because Delta’s music makes Celine Dion’s last half-dozen releases seem positively edgy and /avant garde/. Angered by Delta’s relentless marketing hype, and the fact that Easter eggs and hot cross buns are /already/ in the supermarkets, we at TSSH happened on an idea – let’s get into the spirit of the season /and/ do something about a young woman who tarnishes Australia’s image around the world. Let’s turn Australia’s angel into our own personal Jesus and crucify her on Good Friday. We have set up an online petition asking for just that <http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/crucifydelta>, and we’ll pass it on to Delta Goodrem’s management shortly before Easter. With your support, readers, we’re confident we can make it happen. Or, at least, we’re confident that we can send the message to Delta’s management that some Australians see through the gloss, the hype and the oh-so-cynical marketing spin. This is grassroots activism at its best, people. Let’s change the world. |

I haven't seen this, no. And I'm certainly not mentioning it to my 11 year old daughter - one of Australia's biggest Delta fans. Plus I've spent over $300 on tickets to her July concert.
So...not interested!

Yeah, this is all news to me. I guess i havent thought that much about Delta. I did think that her getting the arias the other year was a bit biased because of her of the massive sympathy sentiment. I didnt know that it was her her might have had the affair on the poo either- she certainly has some good spin doctors.
Speaking of Doctors, did any listen to Jay and theDoctor's song on Triple J - 'Tsuna- me'. Its a rather cynical look at australia giving money to the crisis to make us feel better. I havent really thought about it from this perspective before. I did think that the media should cover Iraq in the same fashion though. Almost the exact same amount of people have been killed over there as in the Tsunami, and we never see footage of those homeless dudes running around with dead babies and stuff... but i guess thats political hey. Speaking of the Tsunami relief thing, anyone going to Wave Aid? I am. The Oils reformed, Finn Bros, the finger, the waifs, etc etc. It should be grouse.

this hate campaign is news to me and it sounds cruel.
to me Delta is remarkably boring, and her marketing/management team should be admonished for milking her sickness, but thats all. but perhaps this hate campaign will force some personality out of her, or better yet, let her grow up and get angry (and interesting).
