Moving to Kits, Van, BC

Hi. I'm moving to Vancouver on March 1 with my wife. For good!

We are looking in all the usual places on the web (UBS rentline, Sabbatical Homes etc.) for a 2 bedroom apartment with a bit of space and high speed internet connection, just for a few months while we get established. Anyone there who may know of anywhere?

Don't know of anything off hand but I can tell you that the rental market is good right now for renters. Higher vacancy and lower rents. I remember you posted before but why did you choose Kits?

Hi Rousseau, and thanks. My wife lived in Kits before for nine years when she was editor of Shared Vision magazine. We like it that it's central and easy to get to Granville Island, Downtown, UBC, the beach etc. And we like the feel of it.

No problem. I've found some pretty good deals on there including the place I'm in now. Good luck!

What do you think of it since it went through a change of format? Better?

We've only been reading it for a couple of years but I can't think of a format change. ?? What did it change from?

Oh, well you won't have seen how it looked before. And I have only seen one copy of the new version. Before it was smaller format, didn't look so much like it's competitors, and had a less commercial feel.

Hi again JJ.Just curious as to why you asked this question. Do you feel other areas are better?

We have been looking for some time for the ideal place now. One looks promising so far, but we are open to new ideas...

Nope. Not at all. I was just curious. We like Kits. Close to the beach and Capers. Don't need much else. When it's my time to return from the 'burbs tho', I think I'll head for south granville (which is, of course the north end of granville). It's a bit newer and I like the local restaurants.

I've heard other people say that about South Granville. But for now, close to Capers and the beach would be ideal for us. Love Capers! So, if you hear of anything - nice, reasonably spacious 2 bedroom main floor or above, furnished apartment that's internet ready and available for three months, that would be great!

That's specific but I'll keep my ear to the ground. Have a target rent in mind? I do know of one place on the beach that fits your bill exactly but it rents out for upwards of $10.000/month. Yes 4 zeros.

Aaargh! Well, to start with we want to keep costs down while we look for something permanent. We've been looking around the 1,500 mark.

By the way, I much appreciate your interest. Thank you.

Talk soon.

We're just about ready to fly, and althoguh we've seen some nice places, nothing has been quite right so far.

No. Sorry, he wasn't much help. He told me that he's lived in the same apartment for about ten years and doesn't watch the local real estate market at all.

I hope you arrive with weather like we are having this week. Days like today are the reason we live here. Bike ride in the AM, stop at a cafe, sit outside and stare at the mountains. A little more biking. Wash the car in the afternoon. Put the top down and go for a cruise (to another coffee shop of course). Stare at the mountains some more. Glass of wine and a BBQ tonight!

Tomorrow: Apply suntan lotion. Hike the above mentioned mountains in the morning. Followed by a well deserved coffee and panini!

Sweet!

And that's exactly why we are coming!

Can you please make sure that the weather stays that way for a few months?
