Washington wines can be fabulous! (But not so easy to find it Ontario.) They grow grapes all along the Columbia Valley. I've got trip notes for Walla Walla here:
http://www.winefanatic.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=108 There are a good clump on wineries just outside of Seattle too. Where did you do the tasting? Janey: Bison!?

The tasting was at the Dundarave Wine Cellar, it was invitation only unfortunately. The two Stars of the night were two Chateauneuf style blends, one from MCRea and one from Zefina. The Zefina Serience is available at the private stores, i think the MCrea is special order. Dunham was in the tasting, and it didn't blow me away, so i guess we agree there.

Sounds like a good tasting. I used to spend a few dollars there but I used to get 10% off. Then they fired all the staff and my 10% disappeared. I don't get over the bridge much anyway but I wander thru their Kits store from time to time. I just find it hard to stomach the mark-up on top of the inflated BC prices...
Have you tried Bookwalter?

Back to Bison:
Was in Fernie till yesterday. If yuou ever go there, try the 8 oz Bison steak at the Corner pocket restaurant in Main street. Yes it does go well with a local wine. We just got back with an Inniskillin icewine (Vidal) as a gift for a friend and I also got the red Icewine Cab-Franc version for my own pleasure. Dying to try it out as I thought it was just whites that were good for Icewine. I prefer red. |
