How much would it take?

You find a magic lamp. You rub it and a genie appears. The genie offers you one chance at financial security for the rest of your life. You have to name the amount of money that will allow you to live life the way you have always wanted to. If you name an amount that exceeds your needs, you get nothing. If you name an amount that is less than your needs, you will only receive that amount, which will run out sooner or later.

What amount do you name?

for me: $10 million would get it. I'd never have to work again, and could live life very comfortably for my remaining 35 to 40 years.

Good question. I would have to say $1 million because, I figure I could work for awhile and still retire early if Invested.

HAHA, the Feds will even tax the Genie in the Lamp

I'd ask for about 30 million, and it'd would most likely be gone before I was.

50 billion. A modest amount, I know, but there are a few things I'd like to buy. Say... Long Island.

I think about 100 billion would do it. With that kind of cash I buy a McLaren F1 for ever day of the year, and repeat that process every year!

*one of those cars costs just over a million dollars*

Given current piss-poor interest rates on savings and money-market accounts and a baby's needs to consider, it's gonna take more than it used to.

$100,000 after tax from interest income / .62 (100% - 31% federal tax - 7% state tax) = $161,290 pre-tax income
$161,290 income needs / .02 (2% MMA average) = $8 million

Since I need to get my student loans and mortgage paid off and some hush money to keep people from wondering where I got the cash to begin with, $10 million is probably what I'd need to ask for.

I'm going to say $50 million. Honestly, after taxes up here and inflation, you'd prolly need that amount.
