Cool hotels in Southern Ontario
Just wondering if anyone can suggest a very nice "boutique" style hotel in Southern Ontario but not in Toronto.
My wife and I are going to take a much needed few days off (kids, life, work, school, etc.) and want to stay somewhere special. I'm not overly interested in a Bed and Breakfast. We were thinking of just going to a nice hotel in a small town... Wander the streets, have a some nice meals, maybe get a massage and have a lot of unhurried sex. I had suggested the Germain in downtown Toronto but she really wants to get out of town. The budget is pretty much skys the limit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
I don't know the area but I have a few friends who run around the wine country down in the Niagara area. I'm sure they stay in "nice" places. Are you thinking of going that far from TO? If so, I'll ask them for ideas.

Niagara-on-the-lake is nice. Hotels are pricey there. But skys the limit, so I say get yourself a room at the Prince of Wales. Good stuff there.

Thanks Averett...
Yes, JJRousseau... I am willing to go that far afield. Thanks |
The Ramada in Belleville is quite good. The area is far more interesting than any hotel could be. You are minutes away from the emerging wine country in Prince Edward county. The area restaurants are great. It's just a fun place to get away for a couple of days.
Have fun no matter where you go. |
Haven't forgotten you, Charlatan. Just haven't had a reply from my friend yet.

Thanks Rousseau... I just found out that my wife refuses to go to that chain because she has heard bad things about the woman who purchased them a few years back...
I think I have narrowed my search to these two: The Mercer Inn in Stratford or The Harbour House in Niagara on the Lake I haven't booked so if anyone else has any suggestions I am still open... Thanks again! |
One of my favorites. Nice place, great bar excellent dining room. Might be a little far,..6-7 hours from T.O but worth it. Seafood, the ocean, quiet resort town. And 45 minutes north of Boston if you get your freak on.

OFKU0... that looks pretty cool but it is a little further than I really want to go for a two or three day trip.
I will definately keep it bookmarked for future reference. Thanks |
There are alot of Bed and Breakfast and small hotels in Kingstons but this is Eastern Ontario....its a nice place and a very historic city;)

I have just come from a trip in Stratford, which is great in the winter for just the trip you're thinking of. The Mercer is nice and trendy, while the Albert Hotel is cheaper, and has less of the niceties that the Mercer has. Either way, I'd suggest Stratford over Niagra on the Lake.

thanks lukethebandgeek...
It looks like The Mercer is where I'm going when I get back from Asia next week. Time to spend some quality time with my SO. Good to get some frist hand accounts on the place. Thanks again to everyone. |
