The D tour Oz!
 

It was a truly joyous moment when I read today on the Tenacious D board that my favourite band in the world will be playing a couple of shows down under.

Fuck my ass, I WILL be at this show, along with another couple of Aussie dudes from the D board. Do I have some more TFP takers?? :thumbsup:

I would be happier if they actually toured Oz, instead of visiting the two cities that all the bands do - if they were playing anywhere else, I would hop on interstate as needed to listen to them - as it is, I can barely summon up a "meh" of excitement at it.

Jack black is a funny mofo. Him doing that interpretive dancing shit in High Fidelity always makes me laugh. Always.

See, the D last came here mid 2002 just after 'Tribute' and the self titled CD was released, and played smaller venues - showcases really - as Australia was really an untested fan base for them. They haven't been back since then as they haven't had any new material to promote as yet - they have been working on their film 'Pick of Destiny' with director Liam Lynch, and a soundtrack to go along with which will be their second CD.

So I guess they may do a bigger tour later depending on the success of that CD, but as Jack is in NZ at the moment filming 'King Kong' with Peter Jackson, they are doing a couple of NZ shows and a couple of Oz shows without any new material to promote. Kyle's family wanted to have xmas in Oz, so doing a couple of shows while they're down here is just a way to further test the fan base in Oz. :thumbsup:

Hey...jump on a plane! Another Perth dude from the D board is coming over for the Sydney show. Or you could wait for a more extensive tour. I can pretty much guess one of those will happen after the release of the film/CD.

I will have to wait for a more extensive tour - I don't have the finances to jump interstate every time something interesting comes to town, and considering the amount of birthdays and events between now and Christmas, im tighter with my cash cash than Centrelink.

Tix on sale Monday for the Melbourne new years gig! I WILL BE THERE :lol:

I saw them at the Hifi bar when they were last out. Awesome show.

I think I'll be away on hols that week, otherwise I'd be there. I love their sense of humour :) and can listen to songs like Jesus' Ranch over and over....

Yeah...fair call, Neptune. I bought tickets this morning to the Sydney show at the Enmore. Support is Betchadupa...dunno if I'll see them since I bought standing room so I could MOSH, baby!

We're on the countdown...the show is this Thursday! RAWK!!!!

Well...I'm here in Sydney. Had an eventful day (missed my flight..yadda yadda) but I'm here and ready to rawk!!!

Man, the show RAWKED!!! They played for about an hour and a half, and gave us mostly old stuff, with 3 new songs thrown in. The guys were in fine form - reckon that NZ air agrees with JB...he was on fire!
