Can static electricity murder you?
 

I'm assuming that it's possible for static electricity to kill you, but I'm curious as to whether it is capable of malice aforethought...

YES YOU CAN DIE ! Static electricity isn't just the funny fuzzy stuff we get from carpet friction.

Lightning is static electricity. I feel that it is full of malice when it strikes people.

It can very easily lead to death indirectly.
Have you ever gotten out of your car and been zapped as you close the door?
Sometimes at petrol stations this has happened to someone as they close their petrol cap after refuelling, and the spark is often big enough to ignite the surrounding petrol drips and fumes. You can find videos of this on the internet.

I am ALWAYS zapped when i close my car door, and i often start swearing (once i actually saw a blue spark.) It is my understanding that my little Honda Civic dislikes me, and is doing this out of pure evilness/hatred/malice/spite. On a related note, my car was stolen, and this just proves that karma exists.

Haha, this thread reminds me of a skit on MadTV, where this family owned a sweater store with carpet floors, who always shocked each other when they touched each other, or anything metallic. Man, it doesn't sound funny, but the skit was hilarious.
