Test your Geography!
http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/stat...te15s_500.html
I got 46 out of 50 right. Only one did I get obviously wrong, others were off by 50 miles or so. My average error was 13 miles for a score of 92% in 335 seconds. Only because a co-worker had something for me to do. Bastard wrecking my score Only got 48 wrong that time! Stupid Kansas. Stupid Nevada... Oh I'll beat this game!

Luck plays a big part too.... It helps to get those border states first
And that's not bad at all... for a Canadian

Might've helped that my Dad is a Geographer - in the blood?
49/50 98% Average error: 6 miles 246 Seconds It really helps if the states are presented in an order to help guide the next one. ie: Connecticut before Rhode Island. My only error was on the first state - Colorado. It's hard to place it without any near-by states to help zero it in.

It's really hard when you get a middle state first... Like Kansas. It's impossible to get that right with nothing near it!

This really isnt as easy as it looks...specially when you're starting out with a blank map and you have to place CT as your first state

The mid-west states get me (when I have nothing to border them to). I can get pretty much everything on the east coast pretty easily.

45 out of 50, but.... i accidentally dropped a couple before i had them in place.
so it should've been 47 out of 50 technically. some of those middle western states snagged me though. quickly found out that close ain't good enough.

96% 48/50
Avg error 4 miles 268 sec It gave me Colorado early so I had to guess where to plop it down on the map. And I also missed Deleware. But c'mon, is Deleware really a state?

I got 86% (43/50) Avg Error 104miles. I knew all the 'wimpy, puny states' were in the North-East somewhere. The rest just fell into place. |

Great find Averett. I'm now hooked on geography quizzes.
There's a few European and rest of the world quizzes on the same site. Europe, advanced beginner level. (I got 100% in 150 seconds) Europe, Intermediate level. (I got 64% in 360 seconds) Last edited by jwoody; 10-01-2004 at 04:09 AM.. Reason: becauseican |

Damn... That European one kicked my ass. 34/44 152 miles margin of error and 77% accuracy.
There were some countries I didn't even know Here's the whole website: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/ They have an advanced US version, where only one state is visible at a time. Hard!

Got a 92% with avg 10 mile error on the US one, 340 seconds. I did better than I thought I would on the east coast states - it doesn't help that I've never been that far northeast. I was lucky to get Hawaii, Oregon, Texas, and Wisconsin in the first states.

49 of 50, < 1 mile error. I forgot that Nebraska has that little strip of boder with Missouri to the southeast, so I was off by 50 miles there. False confidence from getting Ohio, Montana and Utah as the first three.
