Misheard lyrics
 

Probally the most famous Misheard lyrics is Louie, Louie by the Kingston. I was just listening to Acid Bath - Screm of The Butterfly for about the millionth time and decided to look at a lyric sheet. I swear, you think you know a song but when you have lyrics in front of you everything you have been hearing wrong is suddenly so clear! Even light mumbles that you dont even hear most of the time are very clear sounding.


So, What are some songs that you like that you totally misunderstood before reading the lyrics?

Real Lyric: Her eyes were like the sky
I heard: Her eyes light the skys

Real lyric: rabbit howls...
I heard: Rabid Hounds...

Real Lyric: She feels it die
I heard: She feels so dead (how does dead feel?)

The funny thing is, once I put the lyrics away I start hearing the old lyrics again :)

Another one, from In Flames-Episode 666 live in Koln '96, the real line is "This is episode six six six, destination chaos" In the live version, some people say he's saying, "This is episode six six six, super posterior chaos" Sounds like some sort of intestinal problem, doesn't it.

Somehow I heard bullet in the brain?? Damn house music at stupid decibel levels, oh yeah and probably mind altering chemicals... I just played it a second ago and all I hear is "There's a bullet in the gun"

Also I got into a lot of dancehall reggae a while back, still can't understand it ;)

i dont even kno who the song is done by but the lyric goes "reved up like a duece, rolling in the night"

Fall Children by AFI was so unclear untill i looked up the lyrics.

On Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind album there's a song called Revelations.
The lyric: The walls of gold entomb us...
What I heard: The walls of golden tumors...

A Soundgarden song got me mixed up once:

What I thought it said: "Kill your mother and father"

What it really says: "Mercurial mind the fire"

Now that is one F'd up misconception I had... definitely not a healthy one...

When Nirvana appeared on 'top of the pops' a few years back they changed the opening line of 'smells like teen spirit' to:

Load up on drugs, and kill your friends.

How cool is that?
