Guinness and KilKenny for import, and not just in small doses.

I like "La Belle Gueule - Originale" here in Québec and I agree that "La Blanche de Chambly" is one of the best from Unibroue.

Other than that, Molson Ex in night club.

Any TFP members in Toronto should really check out "Al's Cask Ale" at C'est What AND "Best bitter" at the Granite (Eglinton and Mt. Pleasant). If you haven't tried these then you are missing out.

As far as non micro-brew, then I'll have to go with St. Ambroise Apricot Wheat Ale.

On the subject of beer, anyone know of any brands still being bottled in stubbies?

I know I'm a bit late getting in to this thread but I haven't seen either of my choices mentioned here. I'm a bit confused though, with all the Maritimers that have posted here it seems like nobody has heard of Olands. My first choice will be the tall boat (Schooner), and second will be Oland's Red Label.

Bottoms up!!!

I have bought Red Cap in stubbies, but they were screw top, so not the real mccoy. Last week i bought a micro brewery pale ale (Mill Street Ale) which is in stubbies. These ones are NOT screw top. So they are authentic (re?) creations. I really like them. The LCBO had them or you could pobably go and buy them at the Distillery District (on Mill Street - in Toronto)

Big Rock anything. Traditional, Warthog, McNally's, it's all great. Old style traditionally brewed ales and lagers with no preservatives.

Not that it's the only one. Granville does the same, so does about 100 other small breweries across Canada, I just like Big Rock because it's more local to where I live (Calgary) and I've been drinking Big Rock since the first batch hit the stores.

Try it, you'll like it.

I love Granville Island...we don't get it down here in the States, but I have tons of Granville Island stuff--bottle openers, souvenir glasses, and a t-shirt. If/when you visit Vancouver, definitely go check out the brewery--the tour is cheap, you get a nifty taster glass, and 6 oz. of four kinds of beer to try. I learned more about brewing there than I have on any other brewery tour.

Homebrew stouts & braggets are my favorites. Pale ales in between.

For bottled stuff, Widmer Winternacht was my favorite even though only a seasonal. Looks like they've replaced it with Snowplow this year. It's also quite good though doesn't have the same kick.

What's wrong with water? And if keith's = water, what is creemore? is it a stout, or just a strong honey?

Jumping in an a topic near and dear to my heart.

Too many to list ALL my favourites, but...

North Coast Brewing's Old Rasputin Imperial Stout (California)
Unibroue's Trois Pistoles, Maudite, Fin du Monde, etc. (Quebec)
Wychwood's Hobgoblin Ale (England) (at 5.2%, for those lighter days)
And for really hot days, with too much sun: Corona or Bavaria. For a little more taste, Tuborg.

Special Mention: Really enjoyed Granville Island's Dopplebock this year!

I lived in Montreal for 40 years and then moved to Ontario. I learned to love beer in Montreal, particularly microbrew beers like Boreale. There's nothing better than drinking Boreale Rousse in a place like "Les Deux Perrots" in Old Montreal while listening to French Canadian bands play British rock and roll.

Nowadays, I pretty much settle for Rickard's red or the occasional Guinness. The fridge always has a variety of Lakeport or Laker red for basic needs.

I like Pyramid Ale. It's not made in Canada, sorry.

I also like that horrible beer called Stella Artois for personal memories it holds while I was in Eastern Europe and rats ate my fruit.

That was a syntactically poor sentence.

How long have I been here, and I haven't posted to this thread yet?

That is just wrong...

Anyhoo, my beer in the fridge (and in the cooler in my car, don't ask) is

Great Western Pilsner

and

Great Western Honey Wheat

But the glass behind the Honey Wheat bottle is filled with Pilsner, because the beer is as dark as the bottle, maybe a little bit less.

It is fantastic stuff, and brewed right here.
