Well, Sloan's been mentioned, so I'll go with Thrush Hermit, and, after they broke up, Joel Plaskett Emergency. I'm also a fan of The Weakerthans. Hmm, who else...well I've heard some very good things about Wintersleeps, although I'm not terribly familiar with them myself. What little I have heard by them, however, has been quite excellent.

How is there any question that this is Rush? Easily, obviously and unassailably the best band in the Great White North.

Is it because Geddy Lee sounds like Terry Jones in Drag? Everything else about the band is so awesome, I think it's pretty much mandatory to forgive them Geddy's voice (and their deploarable tendency to didacticism in their lyrics.)

For some lesser known people, The Real McKenzies for some Scottish Punk/Rock

I like Sam Roberts, his musics just pleasing, and Lythic Blue, are a local alt-rock band in Victoria that has some major talent. I also like smaller alt and ska bands in the Victoria scene.

I think that Canadian rock is kind of the renaissance of music nowadays. I love the old metal, but I sure got tired of the whole hip hop style, and love the Hip, and especially Sam Roberts, man do i love his band. I liked the old stuff too like Prism, Toto, Rush, godo, and Teenage Head, Viletones, Diodes, GOB, DOA.

I also like Neil Young and the Band.

I am learing the guitar, and love the string work. Eeven though i don;t like Nickelback too much, I love the guitar work in Figured You Out.

I don't like Furtado, or Alanis, or Celine.

Good call man! I was about to say the same exact thing, maybe add a few more bands like Godspeed! You black Emperor, and Eric's Trip.

Chalk up another vote for the Hip... but also honourable mention to the Rheostatics (How can you not love a band that wrote a song about Wendel Clark), and Spirit of the West (I know a good/ugly drunk is coming on when Home for a Rest gets played early on)
