Wolf Creek disturbed me.

Great film, but I'm not glad I watched it...

Ella 01-06-2006 03:59 AM

Hey you lovely Aussies! Been a long time between drinks but I'm still around...from time to time...floating. Life is quiet ethereal. *mwah*.

dlish 01-06-2006 07:02 PM

good to see another living soul other than just 2 or 3 of us lately...even though you are 'floating'..maybe that makes you a dead soul.. i dunno...

Meridae'n 02-12-2006 10:30 PM

So Ella, you still with your fella? Been a while now... do I hear wedding bells?

Stick 02-13-2006 08:55 PM

'Dead Souls' by Gogol. Great book.

ryfo 02-13-2006 08:59 PM

The cricket is on, thats why aussies are busy elsewhere.....wouldnt be the fact that i stuffed the computer up royally some time ago

Latch 02-14-2006 09:00 AM

I moved back to the US

Meridae'n 02-14-2006 11:14 PM

Obviously didn't get the permanant residency you were after...

Latch 02-15-2006 06:17 AM

Nah, I did. Was PR for a year. Then decided I was bored and wanted a change.

I imagine I'll move back to Australia in a few years if all works as it should.

Yes mate...I moved in with him last November and all is wonderful. And no wedding bells for me...I'm presently finalising my divorce and will not be re-marrying. Ever.

Latch - you just needed a reminder of why you came here in the first place ;)

Meridae'n 02-22-2006 05:35 PM

So you used us Latch and then pissed off back home!!!

Latch 02-24-2006 10:12 AM

Basically.. I'll ring you tomorrow.. I swear.

Meridae'n 03-02-2006 08:47 AM

So do you still have PR rights? Can you come back whenever for as long as you want?

Stick 03-11-2006 08:18 PM

An old friend I used to work with now owns a helicopter charter and flight training company
so I signed up for helicopter flying lessons (at mates rates, of course).
Hope I don't do a 'Shirley' Strachan.

dlish 03-12-2006 03:02 AM

whats the price difference between normal rates and 'mates rates' for these lessons..

ive always wanted to learn to fly..unfortunately i have a middle eastern name and have a certain religious affiliation... id rather not go through the headache just for a little bit of fun...

Kostya 03-12-2006 06:40 AM

Better cross buying pool acid off your "To Do List" along with a number of other activities...

Good to see you still around.

Stick 03-12-2006 12:48 PM

Bell 206 Jetranger

Robinson R22 $380
Robinson R44 $680
Bell 206 Jetranger $930

These are your ordinary rates for aircraft plus instruction.
I built his offices for him for nothing to help him get started, so he owes me.

thanks kostya....

funny you say that.. it was only a few weeks ago that i bought a drum of hydrochloric acid from bunnings on my company account to do some acid washing for a pool and concrete foothpath.... you dont think i did a double take????

if something even as innocent as this gets me doing a double take..and i have nothing to hide... i dont even quite fit the bill of what a middle eastern muslim looks like, yet i was still hesitant...its these sort of issues that really pisses me off to no end and hinders arab/muslim involvement and assimilation into the australian backdrop.

what is the price of freedom on civil liberties in australian and worldwide if people like me cant freely buy pool acid or learn to fly.....

Meridae'n 03-14-2006 11:28 PM

On another topic... god Jen Hawkins is hot on DWTS :kleenex:

Meridae'n 03-14-2006 11:46 PM

Whoa, double post.

Er... as you were.

Ella 03-16-2006 02:48 AM

And where does she get off calling herself fat? Purh-lease!!!

dlish 03-16-2006 03:07 AM

still refuse to watch the damn show..but i saw a snippet of it when simone warne was on when i was flicking through..she didnt look like she was missing much self confidence. what a crappy excuse for a tv show...put some over the hill tv stars dancing and people are supposed to watch? ive got better things to do with my time than waste it watching people who cant dance...try and do just that.

Stick 03-16-2006 10:30 PM

Hey, Latch, what was the real reason behind your return to Seppoland?
Was it an angry Dad with a shotgun suggesting a wedding?

Dlishsguy - Of course you can learn to fly. The spooks are checking me out, the same as they do with everybody.
A mate of mine was in the Pommy army but because he has an Irish surname,
he wasn't posted to Northern Ireland - just in case he was an undercover psycho.
He wasn't complaining about missing out, but the stigma that was attached to his name annoyed him.
The moral of the story? Fucked if I know. Just don't let the cunts get you down, that's all. Fuck 'em.

Meridae'n 03-20-2006 05:24 PM

Boy doesn't 'Aeon Flux' really suck arse. Charlize... you have a good scone, but you don't have the rig to hold up a shit movie.

Ella 03-23-2006 11:23 PM

I was planning to see that movie, Meri, as I loved the cartoon, but I reckon I may wait until it comes out on DVD. Shame, really....

Stick 04-10-2006 10:50 PM

1) Yaaaaaaaaaaaayyy! I'm going to Adelaide tomorrow. - Wednesday April 12.
The Australian National Handgun Championships are on over Easter, and I'm shooting in them.

2) I'm joining the Army Reserves and I have a medical coming up soon. I'm turning into a gym junkie so I can kill it (ha ha - Kill it - Is that funny?).

dlish 04-11-2006 12:25 AM

spindles 06-17-2007 10:42 PM

I could've got some wood too - huge tree outside my house fell down on Saturday - council have cleaned it up now...

Meridae'n 06-18-2007 03:44 AM

Jesus, where did u pull this from? I thought all the old threads were dead in the water...

Ishmal 06-19-2007 03:54 PM

you've just gotta know how to search...

Stick 06-26-2007 05:07 AM

I did go to the Handgun Nationals and came 106th. It doesn't sound all that good, but at least I'm a better shot than most people in Australia. (I say this to myself so that I feel better).
I made it in to the Reserves, too. (Combat Engineers).

Ishmal 06-28-2007 03:03 AM

congrats Stick.

106 is better than 107!!!

Ella 06-28-2007 03:25 AM

Hey I remember this thread!

Ishmal 07-06-2007 04:08 AM

it's one of the fiirst Aussie threads isn't it???

He flew fixed wing. (Low fly endorsed) His last plane was a Cessna 182.
(3rd plane after a 172, and a 140) Crashed the first 2.
Mind you.. the 140 was a flying brick....

We had some crap times around our camp fire.... over the years...

Ella 08-08-2008 12:47 AM

Just fulfilling my mission to revive as many threads from the long gone and sadly missed Aussie forum. Damn, I loved this thread!
