The wacky crazy golfing thread
hey all you fellow putt-putt enthusiasts! This is the thread to talk about your favorite courses, your upcoming threesomes/foursomes, plans for the weekend, or just to boast about that awesome game you played yesterday.
Personally i'm an active golfer, and although i'm not very good, the feeling you get when everything lines up and you sweep the ball 250 yards dead centre down the fairway brings me back time after time. So share some stories about your golfing experiences, or some pictures of your favorite links!

Well, I'm a beginner. I've just played my first round of the year about 2 weeks ago and shot a 108. I was actually pretty pleased with that. I shoulda done better but I absolutely blew up on holes 17 and 19.
Here is a link to the course I played. Its near Barrie and is a very nice course, it looks short but is actually quite challenging and has a few absolutely stunning holes. http://www.bearcreekgolfing.com/index.html

Favourite course is Pheasant Run just outside Newmarket. Very demanding tee shots.
Also a regular at a couple of small local courses, and Shawneeki. Will be playing Rolling Hills for old times sake on Friday and toughest course I've played was Angus Glen - South Course.

I like to play but don't play as often as I would like...
My favourite courses are: The course at Banff Springs ... I played there a couple weeks ago when I was in town for the Banff Television Festival... if you play watch out for the Elk poop. I am also a big fan of the Oaks of Cobden ... this is about an hour from my cottage and is a real gem. Finally, last summer a new course opened, literally 12 minutes from my cottage... the course is still very rough but in the next few years it will mature nicely... I like getting there first thing in the moring and being the first to tee off... I play the course by myself... Amazing. The Homestead at Wolf Ridge

There are lots of quality courses in and around Ottawa and are quite reasonable too. Was a guest at a private course (Hunt Club) last weekend, played a couple rounds this week and will be playing Eagle Creek tomorrow in the west end of the city. Eagle Creek was #52 or #56 in the top 100 courses in Canada. Looking forward to it. And who ever sang "I don't like Mondays?"

You will probably want to kill me, but my inlaws own a golf course. Although I don't go there very often to golf, its just out side my town and I prefer to have no pressure when I golf. the pressure is just being around my inlaws. easier on the mind just to have fun at one of the puc courses, there are some good courses in my area. One is a ski club in the winter, golf course in the summer. on a couple of holes you golf up the main hill and then there is a awesome par 3 hole off the back side of the mountain.
Its a cool hole as its a drop of like 100ft off the side, and the hole is at the bottom. the best thing is you either over hit it cuz the hole looks so far way you end up putting it in tree's behind the hole. next time you play a round you remember how bad you over hit you end up shorting it so terribly it lands half way down the hill. the back side of the hill is so steep its out of bounds. was out this weekend shot a 40 on the front nine, stopped for a few pops at the club house and shot a freaking 50 on the back....grrr. all good times. |

On Tuesday morning I played in Burlington at a relatively new course called 'Crosswinds' aside from being very wet (there was torrential storms all monday night so the fairways/greens/roughs/everything was waterlogged), it was a very beautiful (still young) and well layed out course.
There was lots of water hazards which claimed more than a few balls in our foursome, but we had an overall enjoyable and challenging experience. I would rate it a 8/10. We paid $45/person and tee'd off at 7:20am so we had the early bird special. Daval http://www.crosswindsgolf.com/

I was at the driving range the other day in the country and I have to say, It was incredibly peaceful. THere was nobody else out there, the sun was shinging, and there was the just-after-the-rain smell goin on. I was hitting so well I could just relax and enjoy the moment.
I gotta do this more before it starts getting cold out.
