Star Wars steamrollered Independence day 38-7 in the highest scoring tie of the first round.

Forrest Gump overcame the odds to knock out E.T. in an 18-20 thriller.

Gump enters the tie in philosophical mood, knowing that victory in this round would be the shock of the tournament. The Star Wars camp, on the other hand, will settle for nothing less than a comprehensive victory.

The winner will face Finding Nemo in the semi's.

Star Wars is a classic, and should be required viewing for everyone. That being said, it was a terrible movie. The acting, blows donkeys. The dialouge... horrible. At the time, it had great visual effects, and an interesting story line, but thats it. I mean i would watch star wars over forest gump almost anyday, but as a movie, i thought Star Wars sucked. (And not just this one either...)

same reason here. I like Star Wars , but am not a huge fan overall. My intense dislike for Forrest Gump leaves me no choice but one here. (much like the Bush/Kerry thing after reading about Kerry's views on abortion and gun control)

however Star Trek II/III/IV/VI would get my vote everytime over any Star Wars film.
it has every element of the saturday morning serials, and that is what makes it so good; the absence of those things are a just a small part of the reasons that the prequels are some of the worst films to disgrace the screen since Titanic.
