It's short notice...............

But as Henry Lawson once said.

Mr. North opened his bloodshot eyes, rubbing his forehead with hands that trembled... he saw the empty brandy bottle.. and remembered what had passed. With shaking hands he dashed water over his aching head... the debauch of the previous night had left the usual effects behind it. His brain seemed on fire, his hands were hot and dry, his tongue clove to the roof of his mouth.

Anyway he digressed.

haha.. too true. not to mention the communal cones that seem to float around the nash - the number of times i've gotten stoned with complete strangers there is phenominal. i miss it - mainly because no matter where you were, you knew for a fact you'd run into someone you knew.

sydney i dont think i'll be able to pull off, work would execute me, and financially i'd die.

Halx 05-22-2004 11:17 AM

Yikes... $2850 to fly to Sydney and back for the weekend. $1200 for a weeklong trip.

If only I knew one of you down there well enough to hang for an entire week.

Considering your huhummm credentials (so to speak) I think I know quite a few female friends that wouldnt mind hanging with you for a week.

Halx 05-22-2004 02:50 PM

Well I asked a friend if she wanted to come with me - 'cause I'm not going halfway around the world for a week all by myself. She'll be traveling during those dates, so it doesn't look too good. She's the only friend I have who isn't perpetually broke.

Meridae'n 05-22-2004 11:48 PM

@Spartak: Beach cricket's off then ;)

cchris 05-24-2004 06:21 AM

Just throwing in a few ideas on things to do and see.

I'm up for all or any depending on what everyone else wants to do. ( Just gonna go with the flow )
Hopefully we can get a few more overseas TFP'ers here too.

I'm working the Friday night but can put in a solid Sat & Sun.

What do all you guys want to do?
.........................................................................................................

Australia Meet-Up July 2nd, 3rd, 4th (that weekend)

I thought I'd put this in so all you guys who go "Ohh.. Tilted Australia.. " know about the meetup (incase you don't read/ignore GD sticky's).

A get-together is planned for the first Weekend in July. It will be a cultural event (tourism, bridge climbing ( :P ), something cool) during the day and a slight pub crawl during the night. You don't have to go to both.. can just show up for parts or whatever.. we'd love to see you there.

We made it that weekend to coincide w/ Uni holidays.

http://www.jetstar.com.au/
http://www.virginblue.com.au/

Free/Cheap Accomodation may be provided (otherwise there's cheap hostels/hotels up there).

Make note of it, and come meet other TFPers!

BTW, It's in Sydney :)

slimshaydee 06-04-2004 04:40 AM

wish i could be there, but its all the way in sydney and im just a poor uni student :(

Madd 06-04-2004 05:39 AM

*edit* actually with the new jetstar sydney aint much of a problem

I think I'm going to be in Melbourne that weekend. :(

Shame.

frozenstellar 06-06-2004 10:04 PM

no go, not on a student budget will i be there, even with jetstar's rates.

Meridae'n 06-07-2004 12:48 AM

I'll be there, bells on. Maybe we can have a Melbourne one closer to Chrissie, maybe head to a one dayer or something?

Do we have a loose list of things we can do yet? If we don't do a bit of planning we'll just end up going to the CBH and hitting the piss... and we all know how much Latch hates drinking.

I like this idea, as most people seem to be around one or other. I head back to the States in Dec though.. so I'll miss it (unless we do it last week of November or something *hint*hint*... anyways.. that's way off, let's focus on this one first).

cchris suggested some ideas in the other thread. I was also going to suggest the Sydney Explorer.

Pros: It's a set of buses that hits pretty much every touristy-place in the Sydney CBD area. The buses come around something like every 20 minutes, and you can get off and on as much as you like during the day you've bought the ticket for.

Cons: It's bloody expensive!

Anyways, just an idea....

hahaha yeah.. it's of the devil.. at least that's what I keep telling myself when I wake up hungover....

Ella 06-08-2004 02:08 AM

Maybe I'll be at the next one after I've been around for a while longer!!

Not that there is anything wrong with that but yeah.............

Aaah what about a general meet up at the Opera house and then the bridge stairs climb.
When can go with the flow from there maybe?

Saturday morning sometime?

Meridae'n 06-09-2004 11:33 PM

Stair climb sounds the go, then we can jump on a bus. As long as we end up at the Orient/Bondi/Coogee Bay...

Not exactly sure what I'm doing.. may fly in earlyish (10am?) Saturday and fly out mid-arvo Sunday (as I have to work on Friday and Monday). Sooo.. I may have to join you guys halfway through the "cultural" bit.

That's the plan.

I'm a bit worried though, as I have lawyers on my back (for Perm. Residency application) for money... I think I should still have enough to fly up there/get a hotel/have a good time.. we'll have to see.

Dav 06-11-2004 06:17 AM

You could meet up at Central, catch a train from Kingston-Smith to the Central Terminal? I could of gone if;

a: I posted more and therefore knew you all better, and

b: was still in the country. Im in the UK now

Latch 06-14-2004 12:29 AM

Bad news...

Looks like I'm going to have to skip this get-together. I thought I'd have enough, but another thing came up that's going to take my budget for the flight/hotel/etc. I'm not happy about it.. but it has to be done..... :(

Sorry I can't be there.. take some photos, and have a good time! I'll have to catch the next one in November...

This sucks.

cchris 06-18-2004 06:49 PM

That's a shame Latch.

Catch ya on the next one.

Meridae'n 06-19-2004 08:33 PM

Um, didn't you actually start this thing? :scratcheshead:

No worries mate, make sure ur around if we have one nearer the end of the year...

snoop 06-21-2004 08:21 PM

Would love to but have 2 small sprogs, wife, two dogs, two cats, and one hell of a piss up to get to in Perth on Jul 3.
