Let's start an internet rumor
 

Yeah, the collective goal should be to infilitrate as many corners of the internet as possible with this false info. It would be great to start something like Marilyn Manson is the guy who played Kevin's friend on the "Wonder Years", or Marilyn Manson is Screech from "Saved by the Bell". Perhaps you heard that Steve from "Blue's Clues" was a homosexual with AIDS. Internet rumor!

We could agree on a rumor to spread, after that we can all post this info where it would be most effective.

Now is this a great idea or what? Who wants to help with coming up with a rumor? Who should we make it about? Help!

The world will tremble.muwhahahahha. Maybe take something off of the onion and spread it around. That would be fun!

That's a good start... perhaps a nanotechnology angle should be added?

New tech that no one understands always helps a rumor spread. We spread a great one back around 1988 regarding a guy who burnt his cornea because the laser in his Sony Discman malfunctioned.

NERC, the National Electric Reliability Council, announced today that open electrical outlets in homes across the nation are partly to blame for the recent New York blackout. Citizens are urged to plug something into each available outlet to stop leakage on the system.

In a related story, rouge nano-bots from the Lawerence Livermore labratory have infiltrated the nations electrical transmission system and are believed to be reproducing and spreading through out the nations electrical grid. Their exact purpose is unknown at this time.

Now, when creating your own rumor there is a formula to be adhered to in order to make it believable and spreadable:

Celebrity + Location + Action = Rumor.

e.g - Mr. T. + Every episode of the A-Team + Mincing = Mr. T. is gay rumor.

The best rumours are about left wing politicians because the people who believe and spread them -don't really question it too much.

Bill Clinton's bodyguards were recently caught behind an abortion clinic drinking blood.

I'd like to add in something that makes the rumor advantageous to the reader; and also to add a "don't pass this on to too many people, it will spoil it". I think that would work much better than the standard "be sure to pass this on to everyone you know" on the other rumors.

In an attempt to protect the integrity of their Smiley Face logo, Walmart is currently in the process of submitting an injunction to prevent the use of the Smiley Face by any individual or organization not affiliated with Walmart. Walmart claims that the "rampant and indescriminant" use of smiley faces, particularly on the internet, instant messaging and emails has "seriously damaged their marketing ability". :)
