lugubrious - mournful or doleful to a ludicrous degree
legitimate - make legal, is legal laborious - characterized by toilsome effort to the point of exhaustion The effort to make marijuana legitimate is laborious and I am lugubrious about it's current status in the U.S.

Laborious because when you are finished with that I've got something else for you to do. In other words what this world needs is more work and not less. In fact when I finish my work today I'm going home to do more work. There is always something else that needs to be done so get busy

Laborious... or so it seems, lately.
(that would appear to be a lugubrious response, though)
