Fun With Microwaves

Not sure where this thread should go.. but here may get some good responses out of people.

Microwaves are great things, you can put stuff in them and it does weird/funny/cool things. Most people know the CD trick (put a CD in a microwave, set the time for about 15 seconds and watch). Here's some others (all are non-damaging to the microwave):

-Put a bar of soap in the microwave. Observe. You'll see when to stop.

-Put a lightbulb in there. I've never done this personally, so no promises on this one.

-Cut a grape *ALMOST* all the way through (so that two halves are attached just at the skin). Put the two attached halves face down on a microwave-safe plate. Turn it on and watch.

Do you guys have anything else? Stuff that won't hurt a microwave, please.

I'm pretty sure that zapping a metal thing (like a CD or a spoon) is bad for the microwave. It's quite a lightshow though, so find an old crappy one or (shh) use someone else's :P

Try microwaving a marshmallow peep if you're in a cruel mood.

the lightbulb was pretty damn cool right up until it shattered in the microwave... x_X i found a site that says to put it in a cup of milk or water and the effect was barely there... but it lasted a lot longer....

Microwaves are alien technology we found when a UFO crashed in New Mexico. Damn, I thought everyone knew that.

I gave the CD a try...that was really kick ass. It just sparked everywhere, and now I use it as a coaster. I have tried the soap which was cool but it was messy. I really want to try the light bulb, but when I did the CD trick my battery back-up for my kicked on and sent a surge through the entire dorm. Thank you crappy electrical wiring.

First one I ever saw was about 30 years ago... An Amana "Radar Range"... HUGE thing...

It was at a friends house and another friend an I walked in just as they were plugging this stainless steel box in... I asked the very proud mom "UUUuuuHHHhhh,,, what is that???" She smiles,,, puts a cup of coffee in it,,, turns it on,,, and a few seconds later out comes a steaming cup... She tells us to try it out and leaves the room...

(((Big Mistake on her part)))

My friend asked,,, "UUUuuuMMMmmm,,, what should we heat up???" Not being a coffee drinker the only thing I saw that was out on the counter was a very green banana... I threw it in,,, spun the dial to 4 minutes,,, and we put our head down and peeked into the window... After I am guessing 1 minute it didn't really look hot,,, but about 8 seconds later blew up as if it was a bomb!!! Made,,, one HUGE,,, frigg'n mess...

We never got to be in the kitchen again,,, and to this day she reminds me of the mess I made...
