Being Smarter than Everybody Else

Bane or blessing?

On the one hand, it's fun to be able to manipulate people, help them if you like, and generally do really cool stuff that stupid people can't do. On the other hand, other smart people often hate you, and you realize how much this world sucks.

bernadette 10-13-2003 02:26 PM

this one problem that i will never have to worry about.

PHEW!

Not being smart enough to keep people from hating you doesn't sound all that smart to me.

And the world is what you make of it. If you think it sucks, that's probably just a reflection of your self-esteem.

I recommend heavy drinking.

Perhaps the reason other smart people hate you is you lack tact, which is something the very smartest people pick up. I believe it is possible to be intelligent and not cynical at the same time.... Albert Einstien enjoyed life, but the trend in the elite minded comunity of today is to percieve that being smart allows you to see what is wrong with the world and therefore not want to be a part of it. This is where the prevailing logic of this set of people fails. It is possible to see what is wrong with the world, accept it, then focus on what is good and beautiful. That is the mark of a truly intelligent person.

Stupid people do stupid things
Smart people outsmart eachother
Then themselves, then themselves

You're only smarter until you meet someone who makes you feel like a moron.
Try humility.

onetime2 10-14-2003 05:41 AM

I was smart once. Then I turned thirteen.

Conclamo Ludus 10-14-2003 05:53 AM

You smart people suck. I hate you all. You don't know what its like to stand on the outside looking through the window everyday watching you guys do your smart things, and say your smart words. Meanwhile the rest of us feebly bumble about trying to grasp onto any nugget of smartness that you guys toss our way. I've been eating brain food and someday, damnit, I'm going to be smart too, and when I am, I'll outsmart you all.

Midlandmadman 10-14-2003 10:14 AM

If I was smart I would of stayed outta that thread in General discussion............ what a mistake that was.....

bender 10-14-2003 10:47 AM

Hey Four, what do you mean by "make them do things" ?

Four Fingers 10-14-2003 12:39 PM

Where and when did I use this expression?
I said "manipulate," which means "Influence or control shrewdly or deviously" according to Princeton Dictionary.

I think there's a difference.

I could not agree more. There are people here at my college who are elitist assholes that think they are smarter than everyone. These people are the ones who commit suicide because they get a B on an organic chemistry exam while I live life and take the B with stride. Dont be cynical. I love just enjoying life. I would consider myself to be a smart person but lots of people probably don't. Oh well. I am not going to lose sleep over it. Just enjoy life, the world is not a horrible place at all. You make it a horrible place to yourself by thinking that way.

*edit* typos come to you late at night.

Four Fingers 10-15-2003 01:17 AM

By the way, I agree with feartheraiders6 too. This was a humorous post.

Seriously, I do not regret being smarter than everbody else. And I don't hate life - I love it. And there'll always be those that hate you - no matter how smart or how stupid you are.

It’s not a bad place to be…..the most difficult problems arise when the only people you can have an intelligent conversation with, are complete geeks that an alpha male has no desire to be seen with.

Is there ? I'm not very smart myself so I don't know, either way it kind of sounds like fun.

How does one go about manipulation, could you tell me ?

it's a secret.
It's in the "so you're smarter than everyone else" handbook.

bender 10-16-2003 09:21 AM

Oh, is there a coles notes version of that handbook ?
You know reading without picts. is a bit of a drag.
