Me drops a few bucks into this 'jar' every night...... how much change do you have hoarded away?

i've been doing this kind of thing for many years...use the money for christmastime stuff...i usually manage to collect around $150.00 - $175.00 per year...

how would ya keep that in your wallet tho?=\

Damn, thats a lot of coins.... My friend has one of those big beer bottle thingys that you can buy at Spencers or whatever. Anyway, it's about halfway filled up with pennies, and he's got about $400 in there apparently.

I keep a bucket in my closet, it's my 'Cig' money, cuz if I'm ever broke, I wanna be sure I can afford a few packs until payday.

Course, I've yet to be that broke, so I have $92.27 last time I checked (Feburary, I think), and I've been adding.. thanks for reminding me, It's always fun to recount the cig stack :D

My uncle used to keep a gallon milk jug to put his pennies in. He would tell us kids (12-15 at the time) that if we could lift the full jug and keep it stiff-armed in front of us for 10 seconds, we could keep it.

You know, you wouldn't think pennies would be that heavy. Go figure.

we have a big jar we toss coins into. not as big as your 5 gallon jug tho!

a long time ago i used to often have the need to roll those coins. i don't know what i'll do now when the jar gets full cuz i don't want to roll coins any more if i don't hafta. i think i might be able to just take the jar to the bank & they have a magic coin sorter. of course, i'll need a handtruck to get it from house & to the bank...

Hey, they got those machines, where you drop in coins and it gives you dollars at albertsons.. Imagine walking in with a 5 gallon tub of coins! woo

too bad those machines take away a percentage unless you choose to donate your change to charity.

anyone have any luck with the asseenontv coin sorters? it would probably take more than a day to sort a jug that big

My dad collected over 2400 dollars in thoes things..... we had a huge bottle that held them all It weighed quite a bit..... I couldn't move it . It took him about 7 years to get them all. Then you know what he did with them all....... one day he decided to take them all to the bank. thats it. My dad is wierd!!! hahaha

I save all my change in the soda machine here at work. I don't know how much is in there though.
however I'm rebuilding a '91 civic and I've found just under $43 dollars in change in various places in the car!

Before they had those automatic change counters, most banks made you roll your coins before you turned them in. I had over $200 after a year. After rolling that amount of coin, I said would never do it again. I just love paying for a hamburger with 150 pennies :)

My Dad has a regular jar about 10" high for all the change he finds and then he has this really tall and thin liquor bottle(can't remember name) that he fills all with dimes, it is like 3 feet high with about a 6" diameter base. I can't remember how much it usually adds up 2 though. I think it might be around 200

You steal money from your works soda machine?

I collected change for about 6 months, and had around 100 bucks extra to take with me on vacaton.

I throw all my change into the space underneath my e-brake in my car, a drawer in my room, or, if I'm feeling ambitious, the coin tray in my car.

I find I can save up about $50 in change every 5-6 months. Not too shabby for just tossing it in a jar every day after I go out.

It adds up :)

Bones- Problem with the hostess idea is that you'd end up eating all your cash.

i've got two texas mickey's(not sure if it is a canadian thing or not)
one is 3.79 litres and it holds my loonies(i know i know) and twonnies(once again...i know.....crazy canadian coins)

anyways....the other one is 3 litres big and houses all my quarters.

a sixty pounder i have(1.75litres)has nickels and pennies in it.

and i have a cool coors light bottle that holds all my dimes.

money wise?????

i have'nt got a clue.....but i know it's a fair amount.

dont use the glass one! it will break. i speak from experirence. the whole bottom fell out in a perfect circle. really bad part was i was moving out of my apartment going down the stairs outside....almost an hour to clean up.

i cashed in a 5 gallon water bottle like that, probably less than 1/8 full, for just short of $200 a couple weeks ago.

i had a shoebox full of shrapnel, but since i´ve been catching the bus to uni, and have been needing 70c each trip, the shoebox has been almost emptied.

I use the cover from a 50 pack spindle of CDRs. When it's full it's about a $100 in change. I have a set of tubes that measures out the right amount of change to wrap. Works pretty well and I don't lose a percentage using one of those sorting machines at the grocery store. I have one of those as seen of TV battery powered sorters too. Don't use it much. Too slow and noisy but it does work.

I have one of those decorative popcorn tins, you know the one with the regular, cheese and caramel popcorn. I still have the divider in it, one is pennies, one is nickles and dimes, and the other is quarters. I've had it for about 6 years or so. It's filled to about 3 inches from the top and I'm waiting until it's full to cash it in. All I know is that I can't lift it any more.

Sigh... I wish I was Canadian. I love loonies and twonnies(thanks, now I know the right spelling!)
