Nonsense Board: The Game
The goal of this game?
Get at least one comment posted in every thread on the Nonsense Board. And posts like "LOL" or "hi" don't count. You actually have to PARTICIPATE in whatever the thread is talking about. |
Every thread on all pages of the nonsense board? Won't that just bring up a ton of old , dead threads?
EDIT: {checks off "Nonsense Board: The Game" thread} hehe |
I see by the streak of your name showing up in the 'Last Post' column that you're already off to a good start. I'll have to catch up later. Got class and sleep to get to.
And yeah, this will bring up a lot of old threads, but some threads weren't given a fair chance the first time around. Either that or you'll have to make your post very entertaining to justify bringing it back up to the front. |
Surely "bump" will not suffice, correct?
|
Yeah, no "bump"s either. We're looking for real responses to each thread. Click on every link, watch every movie, whatever it takes for you to have something worthwhile to contribute to the thread. Of course I don't know how exactly I'd judge this. I'm not patient enough to dig through every thread to see who has posted and who hasn't in each one. Guess we'll just have to go on the Honor System. First one to fill up their left column with black dots without using "bump" or "LOL" type posts will just have to announce it on this thread.
|
You do know that's considered spamming right?
Well, I guess the prize for winning might be having your post count reduced. ;) |
I think there is a prize for suggesting it.... Insta-Ban.
|
Does it really count as spamming? If the goal was to just fill up the threads with anything, then yeah, I can see it. But I'm trying to get people to contribute to the threads, especially the smaller ones that may have been overlooked. I've already skipped several threads where I had nothing to say on the subject. So is it really spam? If so, we can just kill this thread here.
|
The old threads must die to make room for new threads, it's the circle of TFP.
|
But there are some immortal threads like "last poster wins" and "celebrity whose name starts with..." that continually hog front page space while shoving new threads to the back. So some of the further back threads aren't necessarily old, just pushed back before given a chance.
|
Hail Thread Archaeologists!
There are some threads that rest suspended betwixt sleep and death and rash indeed is he who would awaken them from their deserved rest. Some of the ancient Egyptian threads still house a potent curse. You have been warned. Go carefully. -GH |
But the point of this game is to find something worhtwhile to contribute for EVERY thread on this board. Which means you might even have to do some research on a topic if you don't know enough about the topic off the top of your head. And that's my point also, I don't see how making worthwhile thread contributions, no matter how old the threads are, can be counted as spam.
|
Spamming on the TFP: an unordinary number of posts in a short amount of time, regardless of content. Usually primarily done to boost post count, but not necessarily.
Just a side note: anything that causes the mods and admins to work harder than they already do is a no-no. |
Still don't see it. If the poster is actually making a decent addition to a post, it should take some time, especially for some fo the threads that are history dependent. They wouldn't be able to crap out an unusually high amount of posts in a short period of time. I also don't see how it causes the mods and admins to work harder than the usual strain placed on them.
But, then again, I really didn't expect my little game to cause such a stir. Seemed like a fun idea at the time, but if it's going to be causing any trouble for anybody, I'll go ahead and back up off it. I concede. |
