President Bush : smart?
I'm just curious what everyone thinks of our world famous president.

My personal opinion/view on our President is this. He doesn't have the suave bs nature that Clinton had. No I'm not a republican, Clinton is just a recent example. From what I can tell in press conferences and speeches he is one of our more introverted presidents, but that hardly means one lacks in intelligence. I don't think that Bush Sr. is what got him the presidency, though I am sure it helped, you do not get to become leader of the most powerful nation without knowing something. He may not be the most eloquent speaker we have ever had, but he knows how to wisely choose his advisors, and unlike some boistrous presidents, he knows when to just be quiet and not say anything at all.

Well I just read that George W. Bush has the Lowest IQ of all Presidents of the past 50 Years. I think his IQ was like a 91 or something. So he "definitely isn't Dr. Intelligent."

Just wondering where you read his IQ was 91. I do not buy that. He did after all graduate from both Yale and get a Harvard MBA. Sure he had alot of advantages, but I don't think just anyone could get in or graduate. Al Gore is very intelligent, and not many people would dispute this. On the other hand, he also started but did not finish law school and divinity school. Bush seems to have clear but limited objectives and does what it takes to get those things done, and not much else. He may not have INCREDIBLE intellect (even if more than most of us here), but he finished what he started. While he may not equal Clinton or even Poppa Bush in some pageant for being the most shining example of human intelligence and achievement, I think it's a pretty good way to run a country (or a business, remember he did get the MBA)
Also, as an aside, he is far from introverted. One on one he is extremely personable and funny. I am not just saying this from personal experience. This has been noted by countless members of the press. |

I find the logic behind the study cited in that website highly suspect.
Dr. Lovenstein said. "He has no published works or writings, so in many ways that made it more difficult to arrive at an assessment. We had to rely more heavily on transcripts of his unscripted public speaking." These researchers used his public unscripted statements to the press alone to determine his IQ, not any results of IQ or any other objective tests. I have 2 problems with this methodology. 1. Ask any great trial lawyer, and they will tell you that when speaking to the jury, never use a $20 word when a nickel word will do. You can communicate more effectively (or talk better) using small words that give the audience a clear understanding. He's talking to the press, to be seen by the people, and it behooves him to do this. 2. It is no secret that GWB is not the best at press conferences, and to judge his IQ based solely on what I think is one of his primary weaknesses is just not very scientifically sound. |

He's got to be doing something right to be there. And if he's got a Yale degree and a Havard MBA, then he's not stupid. He's just not good at public speaking. That is no reason to believe that he's stupid. After all, the number one fear in America is public speaking (Death is number two). I also disagree with judging someone's intellegence by how well they can speak. In fact, sometimes the guys that have trouble speaking are the smarter ones. Therefore I say: No way! He just has horrible publicity.
And no, I'm not a republican. I'm unaffiliated or Independent, depending on what you want to call it. I exam the issues and make my own desicion rather than following the opinions of a party.

Dumb as a rock. i'm sorry, but no one who legitimately earned his way into Yale would say "I will not answer questions no in....not in mexican". especially when they were the Governor of TEXAS. It's almost painful to read any statement he makes.
