True. But the endo-skeleton is perfectly capable of functioning without the living tissue over it, like when it gets burned completely away like in the first movie, or as we saw several of the endo-skeletons in the firefight in the second movie, never gets installed. I'd say that qualifies it as a robot.

The Alien moives have androids in them, and an android no matter how life like it is still a machine, a robot.
