Ask a Time Traveller.
With all the ask threads around, I figured I'd make one since I'm the only time traveler that I know of on these forums. Now, Keep in mind that I am not the smartest person. I barely finished highschool so I'm not going to be able to explain to you the time paradox multi-verse theory in any comprehensible way and my memory is really shitty so I'm not going to be able to give you lottery numbers or tell you who's going to win the World Series for a specific year.

Like I said, I'm not a biologist or anything like that. I can tell you that we're still humans in the future. I read a news article a few weeks before coming to this time period about how we have less variance in human DNA than we had 50 years prior. With the gene manipulation and bad genes being isolated and destroyed we've extinct certain features of humans such as blue eyes.
Androids are illegal, Artificial brains with more than a specific amount of processing power are banned in all 112 countries. ---------- Post added at 02:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:40 AM ---------- Scientist claim Jesus was a woman. DNA from the Shroud of Turin was studied and found a rare genetic mutation in which caused abnormal genital growth. They believe this is why He, or rather she was celibate. That study caused a HUGE rift in the religious world a few years back and most people say the data was faked. Others choose to believe that the should itself wasn't actually the shroud that covered Jesus after his death. Still, The data did what it was supposed to do. It made a few religious groups fight each other and others denounce what they once considered a relic.

Have they perfected faster than light travel at any point in time?
Does(did?) a man formerly called Xerxys in the 21st century who then adopted the name of SSJTWIZTA grew (grows?) to be a powerful tyrant and controlled all the Eastern, Northern and Southern realms. Believed to be immortal until he was murdered by his son named Skaffer but his body was never recovered? |

I do remember the story of a brave Xerxys that gathered a great army to defeat 300 titans, No, Just kidding. I do remember the 300 movie though. It was a classic. Too bad it was completely ruined by the sequels. To answer your question, If you had any accomplishments in your lifetime they were insignificant or unlinked to your username. I would assume it's the latter as it seems to me that you are a great being capable of ruling something.

Well, The flux Capacitor is fiction, but an interesting facts about the subject. Michael J Fox will be Awarded with a Flux Capacitor shaped award sometime in the near future. BTW, Back to the future 4 wasn't as bad as you'd expect. It was weird with MJF playing Doc but Zak Efron made a decent Marty Mcfly.

In your future, please tell me there's a Cult of Fly's Ass.
With the motto, "It's all about the ass!". Btw, what is the correct Latin for that? This seems wrong. "Is est totus super ass!"

I'm starting to think you guys are mocking me. Why is it that people of this time period will take someone at their word when they tell you about the lives of believing in immaculate conception, parting of the sea, Raising the dead but I come here to help you learn a little about possible futures and I am shunned and moved to a board filled with nonsense. This is a disgrace.

are you only able to travel thru time in "this" universe, or have you been in other universes? I'm wondering if sometime in the future we gain a better understanding of parallel universes, or that there aren't any.

Parallel universes are proven. As much as the theory of evolution anyway. We understand the concepts and have documented wormholes but we're unable to control or create them. I'd imagine a lot of progress has been made since I left though. We are/were/going to be experiencing what the news is calling a wormhole storm which is causing wormholes to form randomly inside earth's atmosphere. I arrived here through one of those wormholes. I can go on if you like or has this answered your question?

thank you...next time you get a few minutes into the future, check to see if I'm satified...now it feels right, though. Wormhole storms seem somewhat scary, though.
ps: I just realized that in another place & time you used to be Cybermike!...one of my role playing buddies from the vampire game. Now I understand how we won that so handily. |

This is an interesting side-step of the issues of identity and civil rights that arises when AI reaches human levels of intelligence. Sci Fi writers have been exploring that for the last decade or so. |

If something's illegal, There's always going to be a black market for it. Security is pretty tight though. There are scanners on every corner in cities and an untagged robot can't cross the street without being picked up and sent to the pound. The people that do have ultra reals don't let them go far outdoors because they'll get arrested. If you get out into more rural areas where scanners are more of a rarity you might see an ultra-real on the street, assuming you can tell the difference. It should be noted that each individual function of an android is legal. It doesn't get illegal until you start combining a unit that looks like, thinks like and sounds like a human. ---------- Post added at 06:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:26 PM ---------- Quote:

The thought of a future where such an eventuality is explicitly and legally precluded opens all sorts of possibilities. It's pretty well impossible to legislate the Singularity away, but you could isolate its effects to certain labs and underground markets. The super-human (sometimes referred to as "weakly godlike") AI would then have to start manipulating humanity for their own ends through other means--corporate, market-driven, and political, most likely. I mean, how can you ban a superior life form? |

Oh noes, apparently I time traveled myself creating a paradox of some kind that makes me invisible in this thread! I must end up going back in time to stop myself from posting here, thereby making my posts canceled in their energetic integrity. It must also mean I am stuck in a time loop since my posts remain yet no new information can enter the loop, i.e. new posts in reply to my own. The only escape is to now stop myself from going back in time to stop myself from posting before the loop resets. Since I haven't yet gone back in time in this loop I can stop myself no problem. Paradox resolved! Whew.

You are sensationalizing a little bit. See, AI isn't as good as you imagine. Instead of creating a perfect model of human brain activity and making it faster and stronger we are brute forcing some of the procedures with more processing power and general knowledge storage. AI can reason, It has wisdom, it can learn and apply what it knows to achieve goals and it can mimic human behavior to the naked eye but when it comes down to it, it's still designed to work within it's parameters. Is it possible for an AI to be successful businessman? Absolutely. Is it possible for AI to be a psychopath that ends up destroying every human for an arbitrary goal? No. general knowledge, reasoning, wisdom and all of things that the AI relies on to set it's goals are defined by successful human behavior. Honestly, AI is the least of our problems. You don't need an AI to watch market trends and generally control all of the world's money, There's specialized technology for that and it is in the hands of psychopathic humans. This is why the processors used for artificial brains are banned. It's not some civil rights issue, It's technology that the governments don't want in the hands of the people. That's just me being all conspiracy theorist, The world isn't quite as distopian as that last paragraph would leave you to believe.

Nope, sorry. I don't buy you not knowing about Marvel.
We know about things that happened a hundred years ago, so you should be able to, as well. Were you just not curious about history?

Sorry, It was sarcasm implying that Marvel doesn't exist in any recognizable form. It's Disney Comics now. I'll just say that Disney is milking it for all it's worth. Comic films have turned into serials with 2 or 3 episodes of a series coming out every year.
