Tul, now you're really close with that guess since where I am relates to Genghis Khan, but it's not the temple.

yep, you found me, Tul. I like pictures...see below.

Talk about huge ass, not to mention that I had a few beers for lunch a few minutes ago so I'm talking out of my ass, may I add ...did you ever hear that tune by John Lee Hooker about big legs, tight skirt...I love that tune. Actually, I'm a huge John Lee fan

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/03/wo...ghis.html?_r=1

Jesus Christ looms over Rio de Janeiro, a quartet of American presidents gazes from the face of Mount Rushmore and Lenin keeps watch over St. Petersburg. But if there were a global contest to honor larger-than-life men on a colossal scale, Mongolia might just vanquish them all — again.

A monument in Tsonjin Boldog is the latest effort to show off an old khan.
Genghis Khan, the legendary horseman who conquered half the known world in the 13th century, has returned to the steppes of Mongolia, and this time he charges admission.

You're up, Tully.

While you decide where to go, I may have to go back to Tony's to try some more beers. Btw, some of you may be interested to know that the Chinese people have been brewing beer for over 9000 years. They must really know what they're doing by now, don't you think?

No, but you could be close... since I can't remember where that would be. I know I knew it once but that was the day I played Black Sabbath at 78 and saw God.

edit: oops....I just realized Tambora is east of Surabaya....nevermind. But this one's a cool hot one so I'll leave it:

I seem to recall that you have the hots for volcanoes. So maybe you're on one of these volcanoes?

I'll go with Tambora. Mount Tambora - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mount Tambora is an active stratovolcano, also known as a composite volcano, on the island of Sumbawa, Indonesia. Sumbawa is flanked both to the north and south by oceanic crust, and Tambora was formed by the active subduction zone beneath it. This raised Mount Tambora as high as 4,300 m (14,100 ft), making it formerly one of the tallest peaks in the Indonesian archipelago. After a large magma chamber inside the mountain filled over the course of several decades, volcanic activity reached a historic climax in the super-colossal eruption of April 1815.

The 1815 eruption is rated 7 on the Volcanic Explosivity Index, the only such eruption since the Lake Taupo eruption in about 180 AD. With an estimated ejecta volume of 160 cubic kilometers, Tambora's 1815 outburst was the largest volcanic eruption in recorded history. The explosion was heard on Sumatra island (more than 2,000 km (1,200 mi) away). Heavy volcanic ash falls were observed as far away as Borneo, Sulawesi, Java and Maluku islands. Most deaths from the eruption were from starvation and disease, as the eruptive fallout ruined agricultural productivity in the local region. The death toll was at least 71,000 people (the most deadly eruption in recorded history), of whom 11,000–12,000 were killed directly by the eruption; the often-cited figure of 92,000 people killed is believed to be overestimated. The eruption created global climate anomalies that included the phenomenon known as "volcanic winter": 1816 became known as the "Year Without a Summer" because of the effect on North American and European weather. Agricultural crops failed and livestock died in much of the Northern Hemisphere, resulting in the worst famine of the 19th century. The defeat of Napoleon on Sunday, June 18th 1815 has been partly attributed to the bad weather generated by Tambora.

Bingo, I remember watching "Krakatau East of Java" as a kid. Wasn't until I was in Indonesia in Navy that I realized Krakatau is west of Java. Guess it wasn't a documentary. I can just imagine some young assistant telling the director "But Mr. Kowalski, Krakatatu is west of Java." "What's your name kid?" "I'm Jimmy Johnson sir." "Well Jimmy Johnson clean out your desk and be off studio property by noon because you're fired!" "But I don't have a desk." "Good, then be outta here by 10."

I should drink less coffee.

And you should go hide.
